Title: Review: Dark Arbiter (custom-ish)
Post by: Darth Nonymous on April 27, 2012, 02:18:08 PM
So, after four other sabers and months of destructive testing on them, I finally when ahead and bought a MLS saber. I chose the Dark Arbiter and decided to switch out the black emitter for the metallic finnish one form the Arbiter.

Shipping: Everything arrived on time and well packaged. Batteries in the hilt were fresh and bright (still in the saber and the LEDs are still bright two days later). Signature required for UPS (which is kind of a drag but I understand). Ready right out of the box.

First impressions: The feel of the hilt is nice. Handles beautifully. I was impressed with my initiate and Dom sabers balance when I got them, but this one is superb. The hilt is a nice long 14' and has a good girth and heft. It is a bit lighter than the smaller and more compact models I have which make for a great feel.

Here is the hilt with the new emitter installed:

I also had the quick disconnect installed and got a separate LED in green. The QD works like a charm, and have had no problems switching out the LEDs

The QD is so easy I swapped out the LED's and reset before my phone when to sleep between these two pictures.

Over all, this is a great saber. The balance is so accurate to real weapons, even as a martial artist used to steel weapons, this feel comfortable and right. The grips texture might take some getting used to while wielding it for those not used to the abuse of the palms yet. But, extremely happy with the results.

I will post a video review soon.

Great to know about the saber. I just ordered a regular Arbiter the other day with QDs. Congrats on your new saber :)

I can't see the pics either. Can you order the Dark Arbiter with the regular emitter or did you order seperate? The saber is too long for me or I'd get it. But the Bellicose is about the saber length so. Just kinda iffy about the Arbiter. Is it heavy hilt wise at all?

Also sorry, but how does the Arbiter feel in the hands being so long? Is it a good spinner?

Ok let me try the images again:

And yes, the handle is long but if you know what you are doing, it will be fine. The balance is very nice making it good in the hand.

Here are the results of about 20 min of full contact sparring with the Arbiter. As you can see, there is no apparent damage or blemishes.

This is the baby that it was going up against:

And that is the one and only bit of damage from today!

Yet again, Ultra Sabers does not fail to impress. Haters be damned.

The Arbiter looks like such a long ass saber. o_o Is the saber actually comfortable to wield though? Or am I just not seeing it right as usual? I'm picturing the Arbiter as just one long saber. :P

It IS a long saber but the hilt is surprisingly light. I find it incredibly easy to use and love how it feels. If you're considering one but unsure about the length, get a shorter blade like Manroon did.

Love the the dark arbiter. My main sparring partner has one that  hes left stock, in pyrestone orange. Absolutely beautiful saber. Incredibly long, but then again im only 5'8" lol.

Yes the hilt is long. Not quite as long as it looks though as the pommel adds to it's profile a lot.

Weildablity of this saber is fantastic. It actually feel better than many of my steel weapons. I have big hands so the added girth in the handle is nice for me.

It is light. I have no sound or anything like that , just the standard set up. I just bang this thing around too much to put a little computer inside it.

And an update: this thing is still as good as new. Even with 2 months of hard practice with it.

Yeah, my sparring partners is in the same condition, it is very light considering how long it is, i just find the hilt being nearly 14 inches long just too much.

My new dark propphecy is about 12 inches long counting the slanted emitter, so really only 11 inches of hilt. I find its absolutely perfect for my fighting style.
