Title: Blade Plug? Post by: Infantrymyers on May 04, 2012, 03:08:09 AM Whats a blade plug? does it make a saber more Durable?
Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: Big Boss on May 04, 2012, 03:23:47 AM Blade plugs are just a plug made of a piece of polycarbonate( same stuff saber blades are made of ) and it has some metal/plastic top on the end with a cool design to let some light shine through. It really serves no other purpose than to look cool check theses threads below 8)

Post by: Luna on May 04, 2012, 03:26:32 AM It also protects the LED in a situation in which it is impractical to have the blade attached.

Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: ed_ification on May 04, 2012, 03:56:02 AM I actually took my emitter into my local ACE and picked up a rubber stopper for about a dollar that fit just fine...
Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: Xanedan on May 04, 2012, 04:08:20 AM The ones from Ultra have a circular design that I quite like. Nothing fancy, but it's fairly striking. Blade plugs also allow you to show off your lit sabers to people without blinding them with the LED. I recommend them.

Post by: Infantrymyers on May 04, 2012, 04:09:48 AM ok they're cool but i think im gonna see what the saber looks like without one before i decide weather im gonna get one or not
Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: Master Nero Attoru on May 04, 2012, 01:30:29 PM I'm gonna definitely get some. As Xanedan said, they're good for when you want to display your saber and its capabilities without blinding anyone (or having the blade in).
Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: faheyb on May 06, 2012, 12:37:19 AM I will end up getting a couple myself. I am glad US is offering these.
Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: The Saber Kid on May 13, 2012, 12:57:16 AM How do you pull it out? :O
Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: Master Nero Attoru on May 13, 2012, 01:32:23 AM How do you pull it out? :O Once you undo the retention screw it should fall right out. If they don't you might need to tug a bit I suppose... although my TCSS ones are only held in by the retention screw. Title: Re: Blade Plug? Post by: Akos_Amun on May 13, 2012, 03:03:53 AM there is really no downside to the blade plug. I have two, one for my Prophecy and one for my liberator, and they are great. They are held in just by the retention screw, which I don't even tighten with a wrench. I just twist it with my fingers till I can't twist it any more. That may not work for everyone but you need not tighten it like you would for a blade because there is zero weight in front of the emitter, so the forces on it are minimal.
this is my little post on the plugs themselves: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=6774.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=6774.0) However, I forgot to mention one other thing I love about these blade plugs. I frequently carry my Prophecy on my belt, at work, around town, just for fun, whatever, and I noticed that the LED module was working it's way closer and closer to the emitter. I had the screws in a little to it wouldn't slip out and potentially break the wires, but I still didn't like that it was being moved around in the hilt so much. The blade plugs hold the module in place so it can't move (depending on the location of the module and your plug it may move just a tad, but that's better than inches). anyway, that's my two cents. I think they rock and will be getting all future sabers with them. ;) |
