Forgot to also mention that I will need some good boots. I have none, and those I will just purchase, I want nothing to do with having to make those.

you costume looks pretty much like starkillers jedi adventure garb http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/1931/jediadventurerobewhite.png. (http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/1931/jediadventurerobewhite.png.) Sorry I don't have any advice on how to make it, but twin roses makes one. Many people in the community have done business with them before and they have great feedback  :) http://www.twinrosesdesigns.com/Force%20Unleashed%20Custom%20Garment.jpg (http://www.twinrosesdesigns.com/Force%20Unleashed%20Custom%20Garment.jpg)

Sorry for the late entry, Spidey088 was good enough to post while I finished what I optimistically call a work out, honestly it's kind of sad.
Any way thanks to Big boss for the fast back post much appriciated, I am afraid I haven't completed the drawings for mine yet, I tend to favor a lot mor plating than my light side counterpart and I am having heck of time designing the hlem. Advice welcome, I will post a sketch as soon as possible, please keep looking.
Honestly suggestions on material, light weight breathable fabrics, suggested store for purchase, anything is welcome, also comments and feed backs on the designs
Thanks everyone

I will have to agree with the above mentioned sites.......I have to say that Mystic Merchants have a totally awesome cloak as well if going for the luke skywalker effect :)
You can find some killer deals on the net and on ebay for a pair boots these days, I believe KrystheSith found some of hers this way and they were way cool!

I guess it should be mentioned...are you looking to make it on your own, have it made, or buy it off the "rack"?

Either way...it all comes down to budget...what sort of working budget are you considering per person?

I have the boots bigboss linked, in  brown, just got them last week. I really like them, they just need insoles to be a bit more comfortable, but they are snug, and dont move around too much.

I think the clothing itself i would like to make, but definately buy the boots. I mean ill even learn how to sew,mor have my sister-in-law do it for me. I mean if i can even get a pattern to make it that would be cool.

Agreed, I'll be trying to make most of mine, I've saved quite a bit for the project but I would like to do a lot of personalization.  For things like to boots and gloves however a stong base to start with is the key to success so they should probably be purchased

Never sewed eh?

Should be an interesting story afterwards :)

A simple machine for $100 or so, will do fine.

There is a slight learning curve...but go steady and know that it is just cloth.

I stand ready to help, remotely  :)

Hey I FAILED home economics.....couldn't sew to save my life.  I was suppose to sew up some type of sweat pants, yeah right....
I like the option of buying from a vendor, cause it is still your idea even if you didn't actually sew it together.  This just saves you from pulling your hair out. :)
Over at Mystick Merchants they have *Free* shipping as well....just throwing it out there.

Sewing is actually easy.

If you can pick your nose, burp, fart, and sneeze at the same time while keeping your eyes open...then you can sew.

 ;) :-X :-\ :o ::) ;D

Uh oh, what if you can't do any of those things, does that mean you can't sew? GAME OVER MAN< GAME OVER!!! LOL.  No I have some experience sew, sadly I passed home ec with flying colors, everything but the cooking as my family will undoubtable confirm.

Cooking is even easier than sewing...it is all about the process, preparation, and staying focused.

If you can build decent lego buildings and such then you can cook.

It is physically impossible to keep your eyes open when you sneeze.

Just sayin.  :D

Oh I like a naked female force user to be sure...I will not be posting any links or pics to the same but yes I do fins those appealing on many levels.

I suspect the thread host was noting that an average forum member male, perhaps a bit out of shape, maybe not the pinnacle of what most would consider attractive...being naked would not be all that appreciated by (me for one, I vote no spank u) the forum as a whole.

 ;D

With multiple layers, as you have here, you're going to get warm.  Fabric traps heat.

So, I would look into fabrics that breathe.  Linen and cotton, mostly...

If you're asking someone to do your sewing, have them go with you when fabric shopping, so that they can tell you what will work - not just for the costume, but for them.  Some fabrics are awesome looking, but can be terrible to work with.  Your seamstress may already have a pattern that would work with your idea, as well.

Gloves and boots can be difficult to craft oneself - finding good ones to wear can take time.  When shopping for boots, I recommend Renaissance Faires - they generally have merchants in both categories, and will help you get fitted correctly as well as allowing you to see/try out the product before buying.  You CAN go cheaper with costume boots as some have - nothing against it.  But if you're spending a lot of time in said boots, good leather ones with GOOD soles will leave you a LOT less achy later.

i my self just grabbed some steampunk costuming boots that are synthetic

but i do really like the pattern, and for the most part the fit

i plan to take them to a couple of boot shops here in the city when they finally wear out, to tear them apart and use them for the pattern for a good set of leather ones custom made

Good points about the layers...it could get hot real quick...lighter fabrics lay better also...allowing some flow and those tell tale wrinkles and folds that add character and reduce the costume aspect, granting a bit of a clothing aspect.

The gloves and boots...there seems to be two schools of thought here...

1. get the highest grade you can afford...finds a quality maker and get it done right the first time

2. go with inexpensive pleather or plastic Halloween grade products which are cheap

I would offer a third...modify your existing or inexpensive locally secured materials...a simple black or brown (later having some black shoe polish added...this gives a depth of color) short work boot with an inexpensive length of upholstery material to build the leg/calf extension portion...a simple wrap and secure (sew, adhesive, velcro, etc.).

The same could be applied to gloves...find a cheap pair that fits your hand, the most difficult aspect of gloves...and then construct the flourish as above.

So while it does require some skill and effort...you can save hundreds...which can be used to buy another saber for me...I mean for yourself   ::)

When it comes to boots, don't scrimp.  Your feet are going to hate you if you do.  My suggestion is that you but a pair of leather work boots and some leather.  A few pop-rivets, a little sewing, and a lot of dyeing and you have a perfect pair of boots that fit and look great.

Agreed, sorry it took so long to formulate a proper reply but here it is, I have countered your superior speed and maneuverability with increased defense and fire power, meet the Xodus 1, think of it as a mini-star destoyer that spares nothing on shields, turrets, and cannons, combined with small squadron on droid base fighters, and a a few platoons worth of armed droids make this a one stop war winner

Finally have my finished ship with color and ready to go. Just going to have to avoid xodus, but fast enough to drift lazily to the left to avoid the laser blasts. I bring a small crew of commandos for aid in ground assult missions, and have a hanger housing a gunship so when i am completely outnumbered on the ground i have support fire.

Being permited to move freely so you can corral more and more mindless targets around for me to slaughter like the sheep they are is not a victory, anymore than a rat in a maze, run it again and again and you still can't escape my maze

To your first comment, you should consider choosing your enemies carefully, I tend to prefer slaughter to discussion.
To your second question I will actually begin consruction as soon as I complete my weapons cabinet, which will hopeful be by the end of this week.
I will try and keep pics that I can up load.  Should be an interesting summer.
