Title: The Overlord Project Videos
Post by: Master Bluespike74 on June 20, 2012, 07:05:25 PM
This is the introductory video on my Overlord transformation.  I'll have more to come as soon as they load to YouTube.  It is weird how going from Brown belt to Black belt is very much like going from Apprentice to Knight/Saber.  Have a great time watching and happy sabering.

NOTE:  If you want people who are not part of the forum to watch it, you have to send them the specific YouTube link as I don't let my videos go public very often.

This first video is kind of informational for making a more secure blade holder screw when using PVC.

This second video is the progress that I made on the Overlord while my daughter was sleeping.

Part 3.  Sorry for sounding like I was out of breath.  I had over an hour of Kempo class with no AC, 98 degrees.

thanks for the great videos. I tried wiring a hasbro ultimate fx board into my Aeon V3 stunt recently, if i would have had a good video like this it would have helped alot ( my project was an epic failure).  Gonna need a new solderig gun:/

This is the final video.  I am very happy to be finished with this so that I can have my Overlord back in the line-up.  I am thinking about changing the Pommel later but not sure what it should be.  Now, the last part of this journey to to get my Black Belt.  I hope these videos were seen to be informative and helpful.  Thanks for sharing in the journey.

Great vids! I'm getting ready to do this to my Overlord in a couple of weeks . Did the Obsidian come with all the connections needed for QDs as far as main led and FoC connection?

Great vids! I'm getting ready to do this to my Overlord in a couple of weeks . Did the Obsidian come with all the connections needed for QDs as far as main led and FoC connection?

The Obsidian has an FOC wire that connects to the negative of your FOC LED.  It also has an LED wire that connects to the negative of the Main LED.  The LED's positive and the VIN on the board are connected to the positive of the battery.  To simplify things, I ran the batteries to the BuckPuck and then used the pos and neg wires from there to power everything else.  So when you look at the diagram for the OSB 2.0, just imagine that your battery is your BuckPuck.

I had to purchase the QD's from TCSS because I could not get them from US.  That was the only thing other than a different thumb screw as my wife did not like the one I bought from Lowe's.  A word of caution on the Black connect QD from TCSS, the Red/Black wires on mine did not meet with the red/black wires of the MLS with QD I got from US.  Just something to keep in mind when wiring.

Update:  My battery pack broke during a vacation.  The speaker end popped off and the batteries would not stay in place and the speaker was very difficult to remove.  I leveled the depression in the speaker where the battery pack meets with some mighty putty.  After searching the threads, I found that Ultra recommended attaching sound cards with automotive body tape.  After acquiring a 2 x AA battery pack from a local electronics store, I was able to reattach the speaker & sound board with the tape.  The mighty putty gives just enough additional weight to allow for easier removal of the unit from the saber.

I was planning to save some funds and get an Archon V2 but with an impending layoff, I decided to simply purchase the classic archon pommel to be added to the Overlord.

Just purchased a Classic Archon Pommel to go on my Overlord.  This helped to add some rear weight and gave a greater sense of balance to this beautiful weapon.  The only complaint I have had with my Overlord was the pommel.  Now, this completes the picture and the sound is just as rich as my War Glaive.  I am very happy and I recommend using this pommel for any lightsaber you want to give a little more character to.

Very nice! I installed Obsidian in my Overlord yesterday! It's a great saber! My Overlord is now longer than my SS Raven. I added a Malice emmitter and Gaurdian pommel. I did have to relocate the neck of the emmitter for balance. My only complaint about my configuration is the Malice neck/ Gaurdian pommel assembly drowns out the sound too much. However the massive saber looks great! Tanks for the inspiration of adding sound to the Overlord Blue!

Vex, for those that complain the OSB is too loud, I think that you have provided a much needed answer for lowering the sound without messing with the configuration of the sound board.  Overlords FTW!!!

Also, check out my intro page.  I have had requests for people to see what I look like.  I have posted a video so that people can see me in real life!

After purchasing my Archon V2.1 Staff, I am currently tapped out on funds.  Currently working to rebuild my funds so that I can finish this project by adding a recharge port.

Also, future video plans are to upgrade my Liberator V3 and my Aeon V2 LE.  Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and watch for updates.

Sick Overlord. Love it with the classic Archon pommel. I might get mine with the silver Arbi pommel though or black. Not too sure yet. You should put the OR font on. Would match your saber I think.
