Title: My lovely saber finally arived!! Post by: zappus on July 19, 2012, 12:15:33 AM Hello there fellow Jedi and Sith!
Yesterday my saber has finally arrived! Its a dominix v3 LE with an UltraEdge mid-grade blade. It was my first purchase and I was anxiously awaiting the last week for the saber to arrive! Now finally it is here and I am very proud to be an owner of such an amazing saber! First off the delvery was very quick. I placed my order on Tuesday morning and it was sent on the afternoon of the same day. I went with Lithium Ion with BuckPuck battery so I could expand the lightsaber with Obsidian soundboard later on when i had the funds. The blade is an UltraEdge mid-grade, which I chose out of a few conciderations. Firstly I have noone to duel with so extra durability would be a waist. I researched the topic of blades for a ehile and thought ultra edge will give a brighter color. But on to that later. Overall I would say I am extremely happy with the saber, it feels very well in my hands and is comfortable to swing. I am already starting to get ideas of getting more and more sabers in the future! I do have a couple of concerns with my purchase though. Firstly, the color is different from what I had expected it to be. I picked Blazing Red as I am a huge fan of the sith. Thing is, the saber color does not glow as a true saber does. It is a full orange/red blade color. The entire color of the blade is monotone and does not change. I was under impression that the blade had to be white on the inside and red on the outside. Then again, on camera it is exactly how it looks like :P I have researched the matter and read that red goes much better with non-UltraEdge blades. Additionally when I hold the blade and push onto one edge it shows as tiny colored cracks inside the blade. It is probably nothing but I dont want to break my blade :P Oh and any advice on the red color of the lightsaber? Would getting a heavy-grade blade give me a desired movie-like glow of the saber? P.s. I will make a video of my Dominix V3 once I have played around enough with it! Amazing product and I will recomend ultrasabers to everyone I know :D Title: Re: My lovely saber finally arived!! Post by: Big Boss on July 19, 2012, 12:26:49 AM The white core affect is better seen with mid-grades and heavy grade blades. Ultraedge blades are a solid white giving the blade a full edge look, thus getting rid of the core for the sake of a full looking blade which gives the allusion that the blade is brighter. ;)
here are some comparisons between the two http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=666.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=666.0) As for the blade color being orangish or less red that is probably a result of your batteries not being fully charged as red starts to turn orangeish or at least they do to my eyes when the batteries are starting to die and it is a bit of the ultra blades fault since they tend to wash certain colors out a little more. Also be aware that cameras really over expose lightsaber blades giving them that really bright white core. |
