Title: DK Makeup Test

Help! I'm not thrilled with the eye makeup, but I'm at a loss as to what to do instead. Any suggestions?

(Please ignore my messy bathroom!)

if you work it carefully with a darker black and use a q-tip with water you could get a cool Joker look like from The Dark Knight. or you could do a tribal look to match your head tails. like vestara khai or what darth talon has

looks good so far though :)

I would deffinatly reproduce the tribals over the face in sharp lines. It would be strange to have them there and nowhere else on your 'body'.

I might be able to achieve starker lines with liquid eyeliner. I like the asymmetry of the first pic. I'll probably stay away from DT since she's everyone's favorite dark side twi'lek and I couldn't do her justice. (My free handing skills are mediocre at best, and she has a lot of lines.) Thanks for the suggestions! Looks like I'm making a trip to the CVS today. ^^

Excellent Costume!!!!!!!!!    For the eye make-up (and lips), have you thought of using a dark metallic looking purple to replace the black?  Would suggest not using it below the eyes, but maybe a single line that contures the lower eye socket.   For the lips, maybe similar to the Queen Amidala look, but with a triangle area on the lower lip.

Ohh, fantastic idea! I like the idea of the metallic purple, it would go really well!

For more intricate designs on the face, I've never had good luck with liquid eyeliner.  :-\ It always wants to flake and peel for me. I've had really great luck with Avon liqui-glide eyeliner! It looks like a normal twist-up eyeliner, but when you apply it, it looks and feels just like liquid. I had easier control with it, and once it dries, it stays where you put it.  ;) Just wanted to throw that out there if your end up having trouble with normal liquid eyeliners.  ;D

Cool ideas! Thanks, all! I have a purple-red ink I think I'll use for the lips, and I'll give the amidala-look a try. I think for ease of application, since I have the airbrush already (it's what I use to put the base color on) I'm gonna make a stencil for just one side of my face. Then I can either leave the other side completely white or just use eyeliner.

I like the Nom Nom t-shirt!

The makeup looks fine. I suspect the issue is that it is not fine lined like the lekku...that  and you have a stark black and white theme.

Perhaps something like this to inspire?

The last one perhaps include a bit of the purple then black it out?

I found this while looking...it is not your theme but is quite odd and sithy IMO

That triangle idea is interesting, as is the metallic purple. I say go for these. BTW the costume looks great so far!

Hey wait.... when the heck did Qui-Tom start posting again? Welcome back buddy! lol :)

How about a sharper line with a touch of the purple below the black?

Ohh, that already looks much better!  :D Maybe add a little facial detail to match the Lekku, and I think you'll have a really awesome look going on!  ;D

The saga continues...

After doing some sketches, and trying everything on again, I've decided to lose the black under-thing and just have a thin strip of fabric to hide the seam where the lekku meet my face. Good news, is there's now more room for tattoos/decoration, but the bad news is I haven't settled on anything yet, and I have to repaint the lekku where the fabric piece was rubbing against them, and we're leaving in 12 hours.

Panic!

Fortunately, it's a road trip, so I'll have a lot of time to sketch. We're also arriving early to the con, so I can try to finalize everything when we get there.

Hooray for last-minute costume changes! >.<
