Well I got this aeon today as a grab bag (a little dissapointed, but oh well, I'll sell this when i'm done with it and get another haha)

This saber is pretty plane, so I decided to spice it up.  The clear coat is drying as we speak. Then I plan to add some leather wrapping and other things to spice it up.  We will see.  Here's what I have an hour after getting it.

looks good so far man. I noticed you said you weren't a fan of the hilt style but after you're done customizing it, the hilt may grow on you. If not just use it as a extra beater, that is what grab bags are for after all.  ;D

I don't know exactly what technique would work the best, but I think adding some oxidation effects would be cool. Make some of it look like it got rusted in some of the scars or something. not too much, but just the essence of the elements getting a hold of it at one point and it didn't get cleaned.

It looks pretty cool thusfar and I think you did just the right thing with it. The grab bag that doesn't strike your fancy right off is always a great candidate for customizations.

That will have turned into a pretty epic grab bag when your done! Can't wait to see it with the leather wrap!

I really like the black inside the grooves, more silver sabers should come with anodized grooves (like the LEs, but black instead of gold).  :)

careful not to over-do it. just some in places where, lets say it was partially buried or something, the dirt would have got stuck, or where water would have collected. maybe under some of the wider sections like under the emitter and around the holes a bit, and in the bigger scratches and stuff. Just a hint here and there, so at first you don't see it, and once you do you think, "I wonder how old that thing is?"

It looks really nice. I was thinking of doing something similar to my Aeon when I get a new saber.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I have taken a leave for a while from saberforums. Recently enlisted in the army national guard combined with school I've been quite busy. I'm back now though and can explain how I did this to anyone still interested!

I am very new to all this but I am very interested in knowing how to age my lightsaber as well. I really love what you did with it, so any help would be appreciated.

there are several techniques described in the customizations section. just take a look around and you're sure to find something to spark your imagination. :)
