Title: Grab Bag Review Post by: Darth Bats on August 25, 2012, 01:52:30 AM My new Ultrasabers arrived yesterday, just minutes before I was about to walk out my door to attend my group's Thursday-night saber training. I've always found the Dominix to be elegant in it's simplicity as well as comfortable in my grip. I've coveted my associates' Dominix sabers since I first picked one up, and what did I find in my grab bag delivery? Not one, but two! My fiancee, who isn't a big SW fan was so enamored of the vibrance of the blue Ultraedge blade, she claimed it for her own on the spot. It didn't take me long to adjust to the slimmer grip and lighter weight of my new sabers (my first Ultrasabers used 3 AA batteries in PVC hilts). In fact, the ONLY flaw I've found in them is that the blade tip popped off during training, but 4" of Scotch tape handled that issue nicely. Over all, I would rate these at a 9.3 on a scale of 1-10, and only because I've seen Ultrasabers with multiple colors, sounds, & flash-on-clash. As one of the dueling instructors of my group, I strongly recommend the grab bag for anyone just starting out or just looking for something new who can't decide on which awesome saber to pick.

I couldn't figure out what I wanted for a dueling saber so I ordered out of the grab bag. I have no idea what to expect but thought surely it would be something with low quality. Now that you posted this I can't wait. I took the day off work because it's being delivered today. With in the next 5 hours..... About to pull my hair out lol
Title: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: Master Nero Attoru on August 27, 2012, 12:56:04 PM Awesome man. Btw for the tip I'd recommend Gorilla glue, it holds it on nicely.
The Dominix is a great hilt, enjoy it and share some pics if you get a chance! Title: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: Zren Tobas on August 27, 2012, 01:56:27 PM Or just buy you a few new spare blades. Now I'm thinking of going for a Grab Bag just to see what I get. Though I might go normal standard Mid Grade blade since there isn't any duelers at all around here. Would be really sweet if I got a Bane V1.
Title: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: Darth Bats on September 08, 2012, 09:29:56 PM When it comes to the grab bag, no blade is standard-issue, but as a duelist (even without readily available opponents, I will ALWAYS recommend at least heavy-grade blades. The differences between heavy and Ultra-Edge heavy are mostly cosmetic. Ultra-Edge is white-ish when unlit and causes the whole blade to be evenly illuminated, but looks better with some colors than it does with others (personal opinion). Regular blades look both metallic and translucient when unlit, but really POP with a corona with the brightest light showing at the core of the blade. This also translates marvelously on video. It looks like rotoscoping at night, but without the need for post production FX.
I whole-heartedly agree with the post regarding spare blades, but recommend this course for grab bag shoppers. Get a "Regular" (mid or heavy grade) blade with your hilt as you don't know what color you're getting, and the $15 upgrade is cheaper than the $19 blade by itself. Get an Ultra-Edge separately to trade out with and see which you like better, then keep one for dueling, and one to look cooler in costume. Its my brother's choice of beer so he will probably have one when he does his saber pictures. :P Just kidding. Seriously though. Hope to see some pics soon. Sounds like you got some epic sabers.

He means corona as in the "halo"effect of the light radiating off of the blade, not the beer, haha. Title: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: Zren Tobas on September 14, 2012, 05:26:23 AM I know just saying. I got a new camera now with shutter speeds so maybe I will try out some light grafiti this weekend. (Sorry if I mis spelled that).
Title: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: MolecularAuto80 on January 27, 2013, 10:49:21 PM Don't just use tape to fit the blade tip back on! I may not have my own saber yet, but my Youtube watching skills are second to just about everyone (lol). US has a video on how to reattach the tip with super glue. They made a vid on using tape, but they say that's used for safety during dueling so the tip doesn't fly off. Hope this info is useful!
Title: Re: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: Ricos on January 27, 2013, 11:02:23 PM Gorilla super glue is best for reattaching a blade tip. Not the brown expanding glue either! lol
Title: Re: Grab Bag Review Post by: SILVERBACK on January 28, 2013, 12:01:47 AM its the gorilla glue bottle with the blue cap, you definately dont want the expanding stuff.
