Title: My custom blaster.
Post by: Daniel Anteron on August 28, 2012, 08:21:06 AM
So I've talked about this thing before, but I hadn't been able to find it for ages because it was lost in time and space. Well, I FINALLY found it so here it is! :)

Sadly some of the paint has started to come off on the grip because I never got around to clear coating it. However, I'm planning on changing that very very soon. ;D

Nice! I've thought about doing the same thing to a Nerf gun. What painting method did you use?

Primered it, Black base coat from a spray paint can, weathered it using some metallic acrylic paint, acrylic brown for the grip, and some black for the weathering on the grip. The only real tricky part was doing the grip. Basically all you do is after the brown paint has dried take a cover a good section entirely in black. Then you take a tissue or napkin and wipe off some of the black. This can either give metallic items carbon scoring, or it will give things like the brown a dirty leather type of look. :)

Very nice, very nice... Nubian? :D

I actually have one of these I plan to mod over into a Naomi Armitage pistol for my GF. Gonna need to do some cutting and sculpting for that one though... lol

I thought about doing some cutting on it, but after I sanded off the Nerf and that silly N-Strike logo's I really liked the look of it the way it was. So I decided to keep it that way. I was considering doing another one only modifying it. This model is called the Maverick Rev-6. It's the stock name Nerf gave it, but it sounds cool enough. :)

If it were me, I'd just tell everyone it was a Bryar. Looks like one anyways. lol

Seriously, it's hilarious. I wonder if Nerf planned that? lol

I actually told Artorius that, he was looking to get a Bryar pistol made.  With a bit of modification it could definitely work!

Great blaster Dan, Nerf guns make excellent bases for these kinds of things.  Artorius has the Vulcan machine gun painted black, and I actually just bought a couple of these guys with the intention of making hold out blasters:

@ Manny I highly doubt it, but who knows stranger things have happened.

@Nero Thanks man glad you like it. :) Those would look good as hold outs. The only thing I would do is cut off the orange tubes on the back. They look a little silly to me. :D
