Title: Is Soresu for me? Thoughts? Post by: xango on September 22, 2012, 01:12:43 AM Hi guys although sooner or later I will and have to learn all saber forms, I have decided to start with Soresu, I am a long time football player and I LOVE defense (play linebacker all my life)
In martial arts (Iaido) I do no not like to attack first or to have the iniciative, I prefer that my opponent make the first move, and I will never fight another person untill I have to defend myself. Now in fiction, I have read a lot of SW books, have seen all the movies including the animated series, since I can remember, I always thought of myself with a blue saber, but recently, looking at my favorite Jedis (Qui-Gon-JIn, Rham Kota, Ahsoka Tano, Yoda, Kerra Holt) And building Jedi consular in the RPG, I decided to accept my role and went for a consular green lightsaber and I am really happy with my choice (no regrets) Now, based in my background and character preference, do you think Soresu is for me? Or should I go for ohter style? Thanks for your comments. Title: Re: Is Soresu for me? Thoughts? Post by: Veldryne on September 22, 2012, 04:47:43 AM I think it's a good fit if that's your prezisint mentality. Start with the shii cho first though as I suggested to five yourself that grounded base on how your saber moves and how your body moves with that blade as an extension of your arm.
As you progress I'll keep helping you as I can, move into soresu. Title: Re: Is Soresu for me? Thoughts? Post by: Master Lucien Kane on September 22, 2012, 05:46:23 AM certainly sounds good to me lol

Title: Re: Is Soresu for me? Thoughts? Post by: Veldryne on September 22, 2012, 01:42:39 PM No problem. Because its the basics of lightsaber form it gives us all common ground to build on and compare to. If you watch my soresu again it's very basic and heavily influence by shii cho. By keeping it basic like that it really helps the fluidity and control. Plus in a duel as vornach and d.n. have stated all forms look similar because you really do for the most part keep things basic.
