Title: The Versatile Archon V2
Post by: Abraxus on September 29, 2012, 03:48:28 PM
Here are some pics of an Archon V2 in various configurations, using some pieces from US, and a couple from that other company whose name shall not be mentioned/glorified.

With standard US vented coupler:

With flush mount coupler from .....those other guys

With an evil looking emitter from....those other guys

And, of course with the tried and true Dark War Glaive emitter

I do plan to get a flush mount coupler from US, now that they offer one.  As I have stated previously, the TCS......err....stuff from the other guys looks nice, but it does not hold the blade as securely at the bottom, because the metal is slightly thinner, so the blade wiggles a little.  I am sure I could compensate by wrapping the bottom of the blade to make it more snug, but I was kind of disappointed I would have to.  The other parts look nice, and make for great photos.  They do offer options not (yet) available from US.  But, you cannot beat US made parts, for US built sabers in the areas of fit, finish, and quality.

I love the way it looks with a coupler as the neck piece. I'll surely give it a try when I buy one, much more awesome that way ;D

Think a US coupler would do too?

Maybe. Try it and post the pics, if you have one.

The top photo is a US Vented Coupler.  So, yes it works.  It replaces the regular neck piece, which itself could be used as a coupler if sound is not required.  The second one down is the other guys vented coupler, which is flush mount, so it is more comfortable to grip than the US model, but does not hold the blade as securely.  I am hoping to get one of the NEW UltraSabers flush mount couplers (introduced with the Yari Pike Extensions).  That should work well, and look pretty cool too.  The vent pattern is more horizontal, as opposed to the vertical used in the other two.  So, yet another look coming for my ever changing Archon!
