Title: Making a custom hilt and pommel Post by: Atrimis on October 26, 2012, 07:11:27 AM I've seen several people post on this subject, so my question is, if someone wanted to do it, what would they need to do, to make it possible to use a blade, sound system, and lights from Ultra Saber? As a fan, which I'm sure almost everyone else here is, I've always wanted to make my own saber, as one must do to become a jedi.
Title: Re: Making a custom hilt and pommel Post by: Rajen on October 26, 2012, 09:02:51 AM I'm new around here too but I'd start with reading all the tech posts and then also check out Ultra Sabers' 'build it yourself' options. Looks to me like you can buy just about everything you need in pieces and then enjoy putting together your very own creation. There's also a bunch of video posts as well.
I'll be giving this a try over the next few weeks. Title: Re: Making a custom hilt and pommel Post by: srams on October 29, 2012, 04:52:08 AM I've built a lot out of PVC, but without sound. I use 1" and 1-1/4" schedual 40 PVC. The blade fits perfectly in the 1" the 1-1/4" is lose around the 1" so just use short screws to secure it. The last saber I made was for a client, I bought a stock dark initiate v3 and gutted it and put the guts in the PVC (that can be a challenge). I can't post links from my phone or I would post links to show you my work. I hope this helps some, ask if you have more questions.
Title: Re: Making a custom hilt and pommel Post by: Raamelik on January 10, 2013, 07:46:04 PM I've drawn up several designs for completly custom sabers with dimensions and all that jazz. One night, my friend (who is a machineist) and I were talking about making some of our own. I told him I had custom designs if he wanted to take a look. Long story short, we are going into a partnership for making our OWN custom sabers! He ordered the metal the other week (enough for three sabers) and the material arrived this week! He is in the process of making them. I'm in the process of finding the electronics for them. We will see how it goes. I guess what I'm saying is, it's nice to have friends!
