Okay, new saber project here in the workshop.
This one, inspired by my cosplay and Old Republic character, is called 'Therion's Wrath.'

The basic design was inspired by an Ultrasabers 'Dark Catalyst' or its twin the 'Catalyst'
Both use parts from TCSS for the main body, pommel, emitter, and choke.
The LEDs for this one came from TCSS, while the remaining electronics came from Ultrasabers.


The main feature that sets this saber apart from some others was drawn from Star Wars: The Old Republic in the form of a vented saber that vents through the pommel instead of a crossguard setup.

Now, I wasn't planning to copy this hilt design completely.
I was actually inspired by Ultrasabers hilts, so I used the MHS Builder over at TCSS to come up with what I was looking for:

Hilt mockup once the main hilt parts arrived

Machined the holes for the switches and screws, as well as drilling the speaker holes in the back choke piece

Using Aluminum Black, I darkened the grip and choke pieces to almost black, as well as the insides of both emitters.
I then used a lighter treatment over the rest of the parts to give the hilt a weathered look

Recieved a set of blade covers for use in simulating the 'unstable' blade like Kylo Ren's.
I opted to go a different route for the pommel vent, rather than using these

Electronics wired up and tested. Both amber LEDs work, and the speaker was working as well.

With the electronics work done, I loaded my custom sounds into the Obsidian V4 ship, and then buttoned things up.

I picked up the blade cover from a vendor on Ebay, actually. Same goes for the 'exhaust' blade

Very sick. I like. Definitely a different style of a double blade type saber. I want you to make me one now but with traditional red blades and the Arbiter style emitters :P Would be a sweet saber to have for sure

Dude, this is frickin' awesome!  Wow, what a great build.  The hilt looks magnificent and that unstable blade is killer.  I like what you came up with for venting the sound, I'd wondered how you were going to do that.

You really made your vision come to life - great job and yeah your connectors do look well done. Point!

Everything about this blade is incredible.  From the unstable blades to the hilt weathering it all looks fantastic.  Major props to you, TJ!!

Solid! I love customizing cosmetically because I dint have the technical experience so I really admire the tech work you put into this, and an exhaust blade is just an awesome idea, as if the saber couldnt normally regulate one blade so your sith character turned a weakness into a strength. Awesome.

I got a chance today to sit down and watch your video on this. I've never seen someone put a two sided led in an Ultrasaber like that before. I think you did a fantastic job. I love to see your not afraid to get your hands dirty sort of speak and cut some wires. It's kind of fun to wonder when we do stuff like this if we're going to get it back together. I know you've given me some points in the past and I can see you've earned them back. Great work! -1

Was definitely a trick to get the back one in properly, but using the second choke worked out really well

Still the pride of my collection

All right, as I work on fixing some of the issues with my armor, I opted to address another issue that came up at SLCC while carrying the 'Wrath.'
Namely, because of the blade color, I was mistaken a couple of times for a Jedi.
Well, today I received the fix for that problem.
In the words of Lady Agana Kath, "Go Red or Go Home."

While I personally preferred the amber blade, I think this one will become more my favorite in time

LAK and Logos have both said multiple times that Sith do not have to wield exclusively Red sabers. And while the Red does look amazing, I agree with you that I prefer the Amber blade.

People thought you were a Jedi? Fools. The Wrath just became even badder  >:D

(tbh I do prefer the amber on this. The red will grow on me in no time)

Now is it BR or BH? Either would be awesome. But screw what people think. If your Sith character wants to rock FO, let him. My apprentice runs a FO blade. The color of one's blade makes no difference. Only the color of one's heart matters.

It looks kind of BH because of the 'unstable' sheathing on the blade. It's closer to BR

This is spectacular.  Very nicely done indeed.  :D  The weathering looks great, and you pretty much nailed the "vent out the bottom concept".

Oh, the Wrath does have sound. Running Obsidian V4 in there.
Just remember the tricky part is running the wiring for the rear LED to the end of the hilt.
Quick disconnects are my friend there

That is one sweet saber. Man, I really wish I could do that period excellent work my friend.

I was wondering how you managed to do that it what looks like a pretty narrow hilt body

Quick Disconnects are a must on the back so I can change out the batteries without having to worry about twisting the LED leads

Made another "adjustment" to the look of the Wrath just prior to FanX last week.
Gave in to temptation and added a leather wrap to the hilt and accented the wrap with some o-rings.

The 'off-kilter' o-ring by the activation box is intentional. I felt it both finished the overall look, and added to the 'field built' feel of the saber

Nice update Therion!   Sweet Catalyst.   I always love this saber, as it inspired me to try my own out.   Have never regretted that purchase!

Well great.... Thanks to you I have added one to my list. Oh Goodie, just what I needed, something else to spend money on.   Nah great work there. It's a amazing concept, and you have brought it to life.

I am not a fan of the Catalyst lightsaber because of how the LED is fit into the emitter. To me I like swapping emitters to see what they look like.

Your customization does make it look wonderful though. Dark Point for the ongoing creativity you have.

Given what I based this on, it was either that method, or try to replicate the unstable look of some 'other guys' blades

That is beautiful, Therion.  I've been wanting a BH blade for quite some time and your dual bladed saber with the unstable blades is quite a sight to behold!
