Hi all. This is my first post, and post-purchase of my first saber of any kind after many years of wanting.
I went with the Grab Bag, and got the Dark Standard Issue with side grooves and a Sun Rider Destiny Ultraedge blade.
This isn't necessarily a saber I'd of picked, but I couldn't be happier with it. I love the feel and the weight. The blade looks amazing; the teal is exactly how I was hoping it would look. The build quality is simply incredible. The word I keep coming to is substantial. It makes the Force FX sabers look and feel like garbage. The workmanship, time, and love in the product shows. I could not be more pleased with my purchase. I hope someday to get the sound board installed.
I have a bad feeling a lot of money is going to be going to Ultra Sabers from now on........

P.S. - Funny side note - I brought my saber into my brother's store (he couldn't wait to see it,) and I basically shut down the store for 20 minutes while everyone stopped everything and admired it.

Nice Grab Bag. Would love to see some pictures. I got a Dominix V2 LE in Sun Rider's Destiny in a recent Grab Bag. Happy that I got one too. I gave my Blazing Red one to my brother.

Very nice. I have a Standard Issue as well and I love the feel of it. The name seens to sum it up perfectly, it is not as detailed as some of the other hilts, but it feels like a real weapon of battle. A military issued saber if you will. It also feels darn near industructable. I am not into sparing, (mainly because I have no one to spar with except my younglings, and that just wouldn't be sporting) but if and when I can really start to duel, the Standard Issue will be the one I am swinging.
Welcome to saber addiction!!!! You will enjoy every minute of it.

Wow. Just wow. This has got to be one of the best boards I've ever seen. Everyone here is cool; something that can rarely be said on this wacky, meme filled Internet. Thank you all for your well wishes.
I've taken to calling my saber "Way to the Sun." (Kingdom Hearts people should be able to get the reference.) Too lame?
@chicago.jedi - I am totally with you on the feel of the saber and your descriptions. I too wish I has people to spar with. There's a new local con next month; I'm hoping to find others there.
@ angelo07stang - It took me a bit to piece it together. The main confusion was the vertical grooves. If you go in to the Standard Issue page, you'll see in the options listings the vertical grooves (labeled Hilt 1 Model.) There is a picture space, but the picture itself is missing.
@Sensei21 - I agree on the grooves, being a bit sharp. But I look at it as a positive in a way; the grip you can generate coming out of a spin is amazing. Makes stopping on a dime a breeze.

It is a gorgeous saber! After some time I realized the grooves aren't so much "sharp" as my hands are too weak from the toys so after a few days I am very fine with it! In fact, i wish the vertical grooves were closer to the horizontal now. After a little bit of work with the saber I notice the grip becomes very slick in my hands with just a little bit of sweat. I think I'll be adding some leather strips as a sort of grip soon, but I want to keep the vertical grooves visible. Also YES, this is the friendliest board I have ever been a member of, absolutely fantastic bunch of people who are more than willing to share their wealth of knowledge and advice, contrary to most on the internet these days.
