What color scheme are you going with?

I had considered a Twi'lek costume myself with a stark color

As Pam says you will want to go with body ink.

She says she has had the best luck with Reel Creations alcohol body ink. Its a bit more costly. BUT she told me she can even sleep in white sheets in the hotel with the ink on and only have a few touch ups and no marks on the sheets in the morning.

Also she says only to air spray your ink on because if you don't it will look like crap.

And paint your Lekku first THEN your body. Unless you change colors you wont have to repaint your lekku just touch it up once in a while.

This is a copy of an email between me and Pam....

I have looked through all your information about paint. And I want your opinion, and I could really use your help with this, because your experienced in changing from human to Twi'lek.

I will be dueling and spending about 12+ hours in my Twi'lek costume. So I'm guessing I want Reel Creations Body Ink. Also if I just the Alcohol based paint can I sleep in it? Also how well does it come out of a costume?

And what brand/where did you get your air brush?

Thanks for all your help, I'm really sorry about dragging my feet on this. Also I know I have asked you this before but how long does the lekku take? I want the seams finished and the lekku stuffed, and all that jazz.

Hi,

YES, on the Reel Creations!  That is the best stuff I've ever used.  It's expensive, but it stays on all day long and it still looks great at the end of the day.  The water based stuff rubs off, it sweats off, and it collects in the creases of your skin, such as smile lines.  I'll never go back to water based paints ever again!

I have slept in the Reel Creations and worn it two days in a row.  I was in a hotel with white sheets, so I brought a spare sheet and slept on that, just to be sure I didn't damage the hotel's sheets.  The next morning the paint did have some rub marks, but it took only ten minutes of touch-ups before it was ready to be worn a second day.  (Oh, and the sheets were clean except for some blue dust that shook out.)

As for coming out of a costume... I can wear this all day...

and at the end of the day, the costume is still perfectly white!  I've worn this costume for probably about 25 hours so far, and the white is still spotless.  No blue to be found!

This is where I got my airbrush supplies.  I have the blue ice compressor.

I ask for at least 3 weeks to finish a headpiece. I can often finish faster than that, but I ask for three weeks just to be safe.

Pam :-)

I hope this helps a bit.
