Ever since I saw the movies as a kid in the 80s, I've been a Star Wars fan, and for almost as long, I've had that "It'd be so cool to have a lightsaber!" thought in my head. I'm now in my 30s, and a little over a month ago I finally got my first saber - a Manticore from US. I have to admit, the saber is good - the emitter is really captivating with the side channels, and it just looks good in your hand. However, some things have happened that have resulted in some additional purchases...
My wife thought the saber was pretty slick looking, so I told her I would get her one for her birthday. She picked out a Raven with Sound with normal claws and a normal pommel. I did some research and ordered a forum color - Dark Violet Amethyst, with a Bane's Heart FoC, and silver activation switch. This thing is amazing... purple is her favorite color, and the combo of the DVA and BH FoC put a huge smile on her face. However, in comparing the two sabers (my Manticore and her Raven), I came upon the unfortunate realization that the Raven's hilt and handle was just so much better than the Manticore's for intense dueling/training. My hands tend to perspire during physical activity, and unless I wore gloves, the Manticore would be likely to fly out of my hands. I don't want to tape the grip with anything that would detract from the overall finish, so I came up with an alternative solution.
I've now ordered my own Raven, with Super Sith claws and a standard pommel (I love the simple silver pommel - it really complements the look of the saber)! I've found the ridges on the Raven help my palm "bite" into the grip, which is fantastic for those of us with perspiration concerns.
However, every review has it's downsides, and I do have to say that while, yes, it clearly states that alterations to an order can't be made after it's placed, I do terribly wish there was some mechanism for making last-minute changes of some sort, even if it resulted in some kind of delay in the process (they add an extra day for "processing" with standard orders for those who may feel they've forgotten something as default, with a checkbox option for expedited processing for those who want to fire and forget.)
The reason I bring this up is because I had high hopes for a Raven with a red activation switch, but in my haste to place my order to get in on the raffle, I neglected the option as it was listed under Obsidian sound (w/ Red Activation Switch, obviously). I know policy is policy, but it's my hope that in mentioning this, I can join the ranks of others who have mentioned this in the past, and perhaps some kind of consideration can be made for future orders.
I've been impressed with the two sabers I've ordered thus far in the past month or so, and can't wait for my new Raven to arrive in the next 6-8 days, with or without the red activation switch. If I win something in the raffle, I'll be even more pleased.

Hey man, glad you love your sabers so much  Welcome to the forum and have a great time! If you REALLY want that Red AV switch... Ultrasabers can always put it in if you email them about it. They can quote you a service fee for it. |

I'm assuming, since you put this in for the raffle, it has t shipped yet? Since that should be the case, send an email to Emory (Deep) with your order number and customer ID number and explain to him that you would like that on your order. He may be able to assist you with this, and charge your payment method, as needed. Email him at [email protected] That should get it done for you  |

I took your advice and sent an e-mail to the [email protected] e-mail address authorizing the additional difference in price, and am crossing my fingers in the meantime, lol. Not a problem.  Not too long ago, I had forgot in haste, to add a specific option, and Emory was very helpful in correcting my issue. I don't remember what my issue was, but, it too, was for an order during a raffle.  Best of luck in the drawing! |

This is just another example of the service quality ultrasabers has. I'm sure you all know the crazy rumors about how terrible the service is and I have NO clue how they can say that! What other company can you email to add things to your order and get a response in time before it ships (which is extremely fast!)? Not many! Gotta love ultrasabers! And I have always loved the look of the manticore! Pictures? |
