While playing with my new Graflex SE I noticed that the gold buttons that came with my saber had become scratched a lot sooner that I thought they would. I noticed that my thumb screw could be removed and on closer inspection I realise that both buttons were made from Snap-caps. This is good news as you can replace them with new ones and changing the colour too. You can order these anywhere, but I decided to order some Electroplated caps from the following site in the US (I'm UK bases)...

I hope this helps some of you to keep your sabers looking good

Those are cool! Thanks! Do you happen to know what size screws we will need?

My order came in today (8/8 and 12/12 sizes) . I went for the smallest Flat Bottom screw size they had on each size (8/8-FB and 12/12-FB).

(8/8-FB)
Fits Screw Sizes: #6, #8, M3, M4
Fits Screw Heads: Pan or Round

(12/12-FB)
Hole Diameter: 3/32"
Fits Screw Sizes: #10
Fits Screw Heads: Pan or Round

I'll try them out and let you know how I get on  Wink

I've only changed out my smaller button so far and it worked out fine. You will need to pop the original off to get at the screw as it is hot glued on. This was done to keep it in place as the cap cannot go all the way on to it's rear cap holder as the diameter of the metal enclosure is too tight. When you replace the existing cap with the replacement; you will need to hot glue it on too.
