Wish I could be of better help but consider this: the VA has been noted as being true to the movies, i.e. Mace Windu. The DVA, is more of an indigo, a bluer hue. The DVA has been noted to be very bright, however everytime I see VA in photos it looks to be one of the brightest colors. Also, the VA is only an additional $5, while the DVA would be +$10. ($5 for VA +$5 for DVA =$10).

I don't have either saber color so I can't say for sure, but hope this helps any way. My next saber will have one of these colors. Welcome to the forum!

The two are so close it's more if you just want a slightly deeper blue tint.

Unless they are side by side I can't tell.

The VA I have in a DSI is not purple enough for me. Almost pink actually. I don't know about the DVA but I bought some LEE filters, through in a deep purple swatch and then BAM! Got the purple I was looking for. Hope this helps.

I have an example of both in the Gallery area, on my Guardian. VA and DVA. Mine has the emerald driver and can be set to pulse between two colours.

I recently had a VA and a DVA sitting side by side on my work table.  I'll chime in that I was not a fan of either.  If I had to choose which of those 2 leds to keep, it would be the DVA.  Both sabers had Li-Ion batteries and Buck Pucks so we have voltage consistency.  Both LED's were non-FOC models.

VA just didn't look purple to my 39 year old eyes.  There was also the fact that the VA I had in my possession looked blue at the bottom and light purple at the top.  VA did not look good at all in an UE blade.

The DVA did look darker and more consistent to me and when shown through an UE blade, it looked my like Mace Windu's saber to me.  In clear polycarbonate blade, it looked like a bluish purple you would see on a bruise.

Those are my thoughts on VA vs DVA.

For FOC, it depends on whether you want a huge or slight contrast.  Huge is AS, slight is BH.

I am very thankful that I have recently been able to see a good number of LED units up close lately.  I am a huge fan of Blazing Red but when it is mixed with another color, I am not well pleased as my eyesight has been able to see the mixed colors independently.  My tastes are along Blues, Greens, and Whites along with their mixed together counter parts.

It is really hard because you see the videos and the pictures and think "wow, that is awesome" and when it arrives you may be disappointed.  You also have to remember that what you see when colors are mixed may not be the same that everyone else sees.  I have read comments about people loving Sentinel Yellow and others saying that they don't for the same reasons I gave above.

My best advice to you is to purchase a saber with Quick Disconnects and choose a color.  If you don't like the color, you can always purchase another unit later on to replace it.

If money is no object, then purchase one of the Emerald sabers and color mix yourself.  I have been doing that with a soundboard prior to Emerald being an option and it has been a great deal of fun getting that mix just right so that I like it.
