Hi guys,
I'm starting my second attempt at a darth maul mask, my first one was a bit tight and not very comfortable,
(Ill add pics later) so I thought I'd start a post and put on the evolution of the second attempt.

That's impressive what is your process ?
I assume you have a head cast of yourself and run latex / fabric latex or what ?

To be honest I found a polystyrene head cheap that is practically my size( I thought it was my size didnt count on the shrinkage as the first one was just five layers of latex) this time Im using the same head but with a layer of bubble rap on it to get it to the correct size, Im using a lycra stocking (really cheap on ebay) as the first layer and making the neck longer as it was much too short last tome hence the scarf, plus longer latex can always be cut shorter.

   Ok so I got a bit carried away this morning, but with the sun managed to do a lot as it dried so quickly, anyway added about three beauty coats of black this morning and then started the red, these pictures are coat five or six. It's taking loger this time as the red is latex as well because last time I simply painted on the latex and I have a peeling problem on it. So hopefully finish the red tomorrow or next week then it's the annoying bit the horns! (And eyeholes) Gazza D "A dark man with a light heart, one very confused jedi."   Ok here it is with the horns, a bit bigger than I anticipated and couldn't get them flush because of the latex plus the shape of my head meant these are the best position I think. No photos in it yet as it wasnt dry earlier. For the eyes I've tried putting a lee filter over the slots to change the colour instead of using contacts, A because. Nice. You could still file the horns down some CAREFULLY to make them more perfect. The Lee filters are a good idea for I have problems with contact lenses as well. But the contacts would make it seem more real and mean especially at conventions.

Yeah the horns cant be filed as wto make it less heavy they are empty, but the good thing with latex is ever I feel like redoing them it's easy to cut them off and replace later on.
