People go on and on about Dooku, and aside from having a burning hatred for 90% of the prequels content, I really just don't get the Dooku love. His dialogue is horrible (just like every other character in the prequels, they were like "hey, let's make everyone's dialogue original trilogy C3PO dialogue, and make his even worse than before"), his fight scene was pretty lame (yes I think the yoda fight scene was laughably overrated), and his lightsaber hilt just personally drives me bananas. It looks like an old man cane handle or somethin lol hell, even his getaway vehicle from the above said scene (before the fight) looks like a flying rascal. Also, his name is WAY to close to doo doo for me to take it seriously. Can some count doo doo Dooku enthusiasts shed some light on this? Is it a book thing? And of course if anyone agrees feel free. And for the record, my poking fun is just that, poking fun, I'm not trying to be a jerk, just humorous, so please take it with a grain of salt and try to read between the lines with that

I agree. I believe he was a far better villain animated than he was in the prequels. And the curved hilt craze is something I'm definitely off the band wagon with. Now in the Episode III adaptation by Matthew Stover, you get a glimpse into his mindset... just before he's toast... he's not really even a character you truly LOVE to hate, or so bad ass that you have to grudgingly respect him. Most of his "bad-assery" is delivered in exposition by other characters. But then, it is Christopher Lee, so I have to like the character a smidgen just for that.

If I remember correctly there is no book dedicated to Count Dooku but he is heavily featured in Dark Rendezvous and Labyrinth of Evil. Most characters have daft names if you start picking at that you'll be on all day. Look at the back story of the character Dooku was a Jedi Master who fell to the dark side of the Force and became a Dark Lord of the Sith, known as Darth Tyranus. Born into a noble family on the planet Serenno, he was the heir to vast wealth and the noble title of Count. Dooku was taken by the Jedi Order as a child and apprenticed to Thame Cerulian. As a Jedi Knight, he took Qui-Gon Jinn as his first Padawan, and later trained Komari Vosa. Dooku was a respected instructor in the Jedi Temple and one of the most renowned swordsmen in the galaxy, on par only with Masters Yoda and Mace Windu. Dooku spent nearly seventy years as a Jedi, but a disastrous battle on Galidraan shook his faith in the Order and the Galactic Republic. He fell under the influence of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of Naboo, and left the Jedi Order. After learning that Palpatine was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Dooku turned to the dark side and became a Dark Lord of the Sith himself, replacing Darth Maul as Sidious's second apprentice. His new master bestowed upon him the Sith title of Darth Tyranus. Reclaiming his birthright as Count of Serenno and his vast fortune, Dooku conspired with Sidious to force the galaxy into a war that would bring the Sith to power. He forged ties between corporations and planets discontented with the Republic, and became the leader of the Separatist movement that coalesced into the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Thousands of star systems flocked to Dooku's banner and seceded from the Galactic Republic. As the political leader of the Confederacy, Dooku led the organization against the Republic in a conflict that would become known as the Clone Wars. He recruited and trained four of his greatest warriors to lead the Separatist Droid Army: Durge, the brutish Gen'Dai bounty hunter; Asajj Ventress, Dooku's protégé and Dark Jedi apprentice; General Sev'rance Tann, Chiss commander and Dark Acolyte; and General Grievous, the infamous Jedi-slaying cyborg and droid leader. The war culminated in a great battle over the Republic capital of Coruscant. In a duel aboard the Separatist flagship Invisible Hand, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker defeated Dooku. Skywalker then executed the dismembered and helpless Dooku at the instigation of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Tyranus's own Sith Master. He would quickly be replaced by the very man who had killed him, Anakin Skywalker, who would soon fall to the dark side and be transformed into the fearsome Darth Vader. The curved hilt is to do with fencing something that was made for a true swords man but again its a matter of choice you like it or you don't. In my opinion Dooku is an amazing character but hey I'm Sith

Dooku us much better developed as a character in The Clone Wars animated show. I'm not a Dooku fan, but I could gain somewhat of an appreciation for him as a result of that.

Lets face it the prequel trilogy was mediocre ( although I like them ) and the portrayal of most of the characters didn't do them justice I still have nightmares of Hayden Christianson as Anakin/Vader but Christopher Lee was probably a saving grace as Dooku but as an on screen character I totally agree that he was better in the Clone Wars series.

I have a hard time blaming Hayden Christensen... I know its easy to do but just like in any other job or company the performance of your employees is ultimately the responsibility of the managers / supervisors. In this case if he was that bad he should have been replaced. That idea mixed with horrific writing, high expectations and terrible production it was obvious that Lucas was more concerned with the look of the films than the plot and character development. That is why I am looking forward to the JJ Abrams version as he seems to get pretty dynamic responses from actors in his work.

Honestly, I don't have too much of a problem with the prequels. They don't have the same magic of the OT but they are still entertaining and give us this entire new dimension for Star Wars, new characters, new events, new aliens and ships. New perspectives and a look at the Jedi Order as it stood before it was destroyed by the Sith. And The Clone Wars may not always be the best storywise but it just enriches all of that. They provide entertainment and and entire new era to play with as well as more costumes and lightsabers to choose from and copy And I'm sorry but I do find some amusement in the antics and stupid comments made by characters like C3PO and Jar Jar It doesn't exactly help Hayden that his character is a whiny brat.

The sad thing is that the prequels destroyed some of the actors futures...
The kid that played Anakin in Ep 1 completely quit acting, basically hates acting now and blames it solely on George Lucas and the Star Wars franchise for not preparing him and allowing him to fail like that. Constantly harassed at school, gets threatening letters from ADULTS that say he ruined STAR WARS etc. It is just insane ...
Then there is Hayden who has really done nothing since Ep 2 and 3... He was suppose to be the rising star of film and it pretty much sunk him...

Christiansen was in Leaper and Shattered Glass, I think, so he had a few roles after the films... But yeah, I'd have expected him to have a bigger career than he has. Being in Star Wars hasn't harmed Ewan McGregor or Natalie Portman's careers, of course

Being in Star Wars hasn't harmed Ewan McGregor or Natalie Portman's careers, of course They were established before that though. This was suppose to be a leaping for Hayden. It is almost kind of sad. I look at the lines on paper and I dont think any one could have acted his part without coming across the way he did.

When your director is constantly telling you 'GIVE ME MORE ANGST, I MUST HAVE MORE' there really isn't a lot you can do to save a part.

The power of Christopher Lee cannot be overlooked! All hail Saru- I mean Dracu- I mean Count Dooku! But seriously, I don't know why people like Dooku so much. I do, however like his saber. A curved design really compliments Dooku's use of Makashi.

If you think of Dooku as essentially a pawn, you get at least a little more appreciation for him. Like everyone else in the sage, he was a pawn in the larger plan of his Master. A powerful pawn, no doubt. But a pawn none the less. He was also right about the Jedi Order, that their unshakeable faith in their own abilities, and unwillingness to look beyond their own dogmatic views would lead to their own downfall, and take the galaxy with them. He as much as told Obi-Wan all of this on Geonosis, but Obi-Wan dismissed all of it.
It was at that moment that I found an appreciation for Dooku. He mixed just enough of the truth in with the lies so as to be the very definition of evil, at least by our own biblical standards of measure. Obi-Wan disregarded everything he was told, and the blindness of the Jedi went on to allow Sideous to enslave the galaxy.
