Well, first off, thanks for the update and keeping us informed of this order.
I find it kind of strange that a company with such a bad reputation, that is still in business and obviously trying to work through the bad rep, would still screw up something as simple as giving you the wrong color.
The pouch does not look too bad. I cannot tell from here if it is real leather or not. If it is, the good news is you can always dye something darker so going from brown to black should be possible. You will have to figure out what kind of finish is on it. If it has a waxy finish, you will need something like a deglazing product to get it off and be able to put black dye on it. However, the sides look like they are glued together so it might come undone. You may need to through a few rivets in the sides.
OR....you can just save it for a brown Star Wars belt you might want to make some day.
As far as "if you can use it," unless you are part of a costume group that requires all leather to match, I would say it is really up to you. Most of Star Wars costumes in the movies look kind of through together. I doubt that a smuggler or scoundrel would worry about mismatched pouches
