First of all I will say hello to all as this is my first post.

Ok I am thinking about purchasing a Consular with the Obsidian sound with the LiPo battery pack for my first saber.

My first question is there much room inside of the hilt as I have an idea for a mod?

The mod that I would like is to have a RGB LED so I can have different coloured blades. As there are so many colours to choose from I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place (Jedi/Sith lol)

Now your thinking that rooms pretty tight in there and where is he going to put those extra switches on the hilt so he can change the colours.

My plan is not to have them external but internal using one of these type of switches below as this is going to be a semi permanent colour that way I can just unscrew the emitter and switch the colour and Bobs your Uncle.

Now I was thinking of the 4 way one, as most of the sabers I have seen have 4 switches on them, however; 1 switch is used to power the saber and this will be done with an illuminated AV switch
making one of them redundant.

From what I have gathered the blade colour are done by either turning on or off certain colours to achieve the required blade colours.
These switches are fairly small and the dimensions are as follows

"A" on the diagram above as it is a 4 way switch = 11.52mm
Therefore the switch is 11.52mm long X 9.9mm wide X 10.4mm high
Now if your confused about the metric system here it is in inches
0.453in L X 0.389in W X 0.409in H

The switch specifications are
Rating: 50V DC 100mA continuous, 24V DC 25mA switching
Contact Resistance: 30m Ohm max. initially @ 100mA
100m Ohm max. after life test
Insulation Resistance: 1000M Ohm min.
Operation Life: Average 10,000 min.
Capacitance: 5pF max. between adjacent terminals
Dielectric Breakdown Voltage: 500V DC min.
Operation Force: 500g max
Case, Cover & Actuators: UL94-VO, PBT plus glass fibre
Terminals: Gold plated phosphor bronze.

Now for the second question
Would there be enough room left over to install a flash on clash board as seen on TCSS as they seem to be fairly thin?

And the final question is
Does the Obsidian sound board have the ability to do blaster block with another accent switch added like on the CF boards?

Im sure that I will rack your brains on a few more questions I have but this will do for the moment.

Welcome! I have a friend with a Consular, so I'll see what I can do.

I believe there's a LITTLE room in there, but not a whole lot. I don't think Ultra offers the Consular in an RGB normally, so I have to say the next easiest thing would be to buy one with Quick Disconnects. It SOUNDS like that's what you're talking about doing anyways, and this way you wouldn't have to mess with all of that wiring yourself putting them in. Just clip and unclip, and you can buy all the extra color modules you want from Ultra! Smiley

As for the flash on clash board.... I can't say for sure, but I have the feeling it could be done. I've heard lots of talk about the possibility of putting different LED drivers in Obsidian sabers besides the constant current it comes set up with, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was doable.

Hope that helps, and again, welcome! Smiley
