Thank you Kaiser, I am always a bit hesitant when I do these "tribute" hilts as I don't want to go overboard and get crazy adding tons of details but I want the saber to reflect the person it represents. |

Agreed very good saber, Thank you Kaiser, I am always a bit hesitant when I do these "tribute" hilts as I don't want to go overboard and get crazy adding tons of details but I want the saber to reflect the person it represents.
I think this is something you have really come to master For, you seem to have the knack for knowing just how to reflect an essence of a person or concept or show etc. without going into excess of detail - less is certainly more especially in a saber design. |

Thanks LSG, I'm glad I've gotten the balance right so far with my designs. I do tributes to living people/franchises etc but when I honour a deceased person I really concentrate on decency and taste. Save that for the train. LOL....I see what you did there. Points to both of you and thanks again. |

Wow FT...THIS is the PERFECT tribute for the icon that is/was Ozzy! Absolutely LOVE what you've done! My only regret is that this incredible tribute is in honor of Ozzy's passing... Each and every part of the saber that you've rendered looks amazing my friend  WELL deserved Point! |

Hello Everybody, I think it's long overdue for me to post a new design....so here's a little something based on something really Remarkable....     Whist I was on my Jedi adventures a few years ago I got to stay in he town of Queenstown on the south island of New Zealand in a very exclusive hotel that even had a helipad! My room was massive and in the last pic you can see the view of my balcony I had my breakfasts on!   Not a bad view each morning huh? And yes the top of the blade is a perfect outline of the range of mountains known as The Remarkables. Hope you enjoyed this and thanks for checking it out. |

Hi Logos, now I know you aren't fond of gimmicky sabers with curved blades and lightwhips ect but the way the mountains were positioned in relation to the hotel meant the sun set behind the ridgeline and there was this awesome "corona" effect that reminded me of the Darksaber and I just had to try and replicate it. Thanks for the comment as always and a point on the way to you. |

Hi LSG, yes the south island of NZ is definitely bracing and gorgeous! I could have sat and just watched that mountain range all day and every 2-3 minutes it would appear differently due to the lighting and clouds changing the light and shadows. I also got to visit Mt Aoraki (Mount Cook) and Mt Ruapehu - the latter being the location for filming scenes from LOTR. Events in Mordor and Mount Doom were actually Mt Ruapehu - though unfortunately I was on the opposite side of the plateau. We also kept our distance from the acidic lake situated at the summit too  The saber, like my earlier Whenua Tapu hilt kinda built itself but carving that blade took a few tricks to do. There is a function in Blender 3D that allows you to import a black and white image and make a 3D object from it. Blender takes the dark portion of the image and outlines it then forms a flat surface object which can later be thickened to give the shape substance. It took me a while to erase the background from one of my photos, then create a silhouette by filling in white on the erased background and filling the mountains black. But it was worth it as it worked better than I hoped. Thanks as always for checking my stuff out. Point inbound. |
