Hi everyone.

I was wondering if anyone else who has a Guardian has any idea about an issue I've noticed with the saber.  The hilt is beautifully designed, but much of the metal shroud (the silver part) has sharp edges that scratch my hands as I hold/duel with it.  The effect is particularly pronounced on the sides of the grips (edges of the black ribbed area) and the bottom of the grip, just above where the pommel connects.

Does anyone have any idea how this could be solved?  I thought of heat shrink plastic, but any other ideas would be most welcome.  I'd prefer not to hide any aspect of the saber's design, but I'd also rather not wear gloves all the time when I'm holding it.  Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks!

What if you sand down the edges? I have know idea if that would be too visible or not, but that might your best shot. Just an idea...

Would sanding it make the metal look bad/scratched up?  Any suggestions on technique/materials?  I'm not very experienced with metalwork, so I don't know what type of paper to use, etc.

I'm assuming painter's tape on the adjacent areas that I don't want sanded is a must.  Other than that, I don't know exactly where to begin.  Think I could get everything I need at Home Depot?

Would the UltraSabers guys take care of this at all?  I may need to send my saber back in for some work, anyway.

use a high grit sandpaper like 1000 1500 or even 2000 grit and then I would wet sand it. might need to buff and polish as needed if there are any blemishes just take it slow and you should be alright. I had to do this on a couple edges on my bellicose pommel just to take the edge off a bit in a couple of places

Thanks for that response!  Couple of quick questions:

By "wet sand" do you mean wet the sand paper?  I've never sanded metal before, and I haven't done too much wood sanding to speak of, so I'm working with a very limited knowledge set.  I'll google "wet sanding" later today, too.

What would you recommend for the buffing/polishing process?  Any specific products I should buy?

Thanks again for the great reply, I've got a great base to start googling from!

wet sand paper can be used wet or dry it does not matter. They sand paper itself is dry you just take
a spray bottle of water lightly mist where you are gonna sand then gently sand. As for the buffing and polishing i use a dremel attachment on slow speed with the buffing compound it comes with, but you may need to research a different product if dont have dremel. but any kinda polish for metal should work, just remember to go slow and patience.  If you are careful and use small pieces of sandpaper to sand the edges only you might not even need to buff or polish
