If I'd like to achieve a lime green color like in this post, what is the best way to do so? http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=4714.msg59327#msg59327I see the following options: - I buy a silver (AS) LED and use color filters from Lee or Rosco (one green and one yellow filter). This might not be as bright as the other options, but it will let me change color later, if I get bored with the lime green.
- I buy a yellow (SY) LED and use a green color filter. I'm guessing this will be a bit brighter than using a silver LED and two filters, but I'm not sure. This will give me fewer color options, if I get bored with the lime green.
- I buy a green (CG) LED and us a yellow color filter. I'm not sure if this works, because the green is a darker color than the yellow. I can't explain it, but it just seems wrong somehow. This option makes changing color later even more restrictive.
Which is the best way to go? I like the option of being able to change color later, but I'm unsure if blade is bright enough using the two filters with an silver LED. It is a rather light color so maybe it's not so bad, but will the other options give me a lot more brightness? Any advice?

Purchasing a saber that has a quick disconnect option for the LED is another way that you can switch colors in the event you become bored. The Adegan Silver + Lee Filters does yield a variety of options as well. As a starter, I suggest getting the Adegan Silver + Lee Filters but make sure you choose Quick Disconnects = Yes on your saber. This way, you can experiment with colors and LED's.
I have seen many people swear by Adegan Silver plus the Yellow Disc as being the best way to achieve Sentinel Yellow so I don't think brightness is affected enough to cause you to be repulsed.
Since you are basing your like of lime green on the post where the maker used 2 filters + AS, I suggest you follow suit so that you are not disappointed.

Hi Blue.
Thanks for the good advice on quick disconnect. I'll be sure to add the option when I buy my next saber. That way it's not too bad if I get bored with the color or if it's not bright enough.
If any of you guys have tried experimenting with blending colors, I'd still love to hear from you. Otherwise I am quite sure I'll go the way Blue suggested.

Here's a pic of one of my 2 Dark Initiates with AS led and Lee Filters Spring Yellow installed. It's a yellow with a touch of green. I love the color a lot and have kept those filters in since I've had the the 2 Initiates. There are many more shades, these with the filters installed are about as bright as all my other US Sabers without filters. I think adding a filter to a single colorless would diminish the brightness a lot . You can also email Emory [email protected] about mixing a RGB MLS unit to lime green. That would really ensure the brightness if its possible.

I can see from Vex' post, an AS LED with the spring yellow filter looks great as well. The color reflection on the background makes me think the pictures are not quite representative of the color you see in person. To make sure I get the correct color in person and not just in pictures, I think the filters are the only way. Even if US could mix an RGB-LED I might not get the shade I specifically wanted, when I turn it on at home. When I decide what saber to get next I will most likely go with the AS LED.
It's great having people help each other out in here. When I buy something I need to be quite sure it's the right thing because when it gets to my house the price is more than doubled by local taxes and shipping... and taxes on shipping. I just payed 166$ for a 70$ Dominix LE V3 last month. No way around it.
Thanks for your help, guys. Points given all around.

That pic is a bit off, in person it's a bit more yellowish , but the green does make it look sweet! When you get your Lee Filters look for shades you like and look at the data sheet for it. I've found that colors between the 400nm to 500 nm wavelengths are fairly bright with my AS LEDs. I'm going to get a AS MLS so I can have this color in my MHS sabers as well.

Yellow disc is crappo. It is of a nice hue, but it's only good on photo; it's so dim you'll want some brain bleach on person.

Have you tried the lee or rosco filters? My plan is to use those, and they should be a lot better? I'd very much like to avoid the brain bleach as I use my brain for thinking.
