With the standard battery setup, does the RGB light get dimmer as the batteries wear out?
Is it better to get the Li-on setup?

As long as there is light, I will be here.

I would always recommend the Li Ion setup.  You get recharge capability which is cheaper in the long run.  Your colors are more stable longer due to normal voltage drop.

No matter which battery you get the light will change to its off color like VA to red or BR to pinkish if you get the LI-setup you have put 35 dollars (charger included) to good use I have left my bellicose batteries in for 5 days uncharged still bright as ever however standard set up lucky to last a week to 10 days before buying more batteries. Also if you get sound LI is mandatory no matter what for the obsidian. If you're cheap get the LI-setup because if you're like me you'll play with your saber everyday and you'll spend hundreds of dollars a year for batteries with its standard setup.
