Image Gallery with Bellicose Short Grove Pommel

- Build Quality and Construction
The Dark Liberator is a very solid hilt. It is of a single tube design with just a removable MHS (Modular Hilt System) pommel. It is made with Ultrasabers signature light, yet strong aircraft aluminum.
- Saber Design
The Dark Liberator features a nice black anodized coating with some silver etching into the hilt. I love the subtle contrast and shine of the silver in the black. Especially nice on the hilt is the emitter, it has two rows of hole in the groves around the top to let light out of the saber, giving it a unique feel even when compared to other vented emitters. Note that it is not an MHS compatible emitter meaning this will be your only emitter on this saber. I don’t really mind this though as having the emitter as part of the hilt makes it much more sleek, as well as sturdy. Near the switch there is a slight taper of the middle section giving a good center for grip, this also makes the saber have a nice curvature. The pommel is MHS compatible meaning you can swap out pommels. As a stunt the non-vented pommel is nice as it has similar groves to the emitter of the saber. I ordered the saber with sound and the vented version of the stock pommel. Although still nice in design the vented pommel is open right to the speaker. I ended up later on getting other pommels to try on the saber. I liked the design of the Bellicose short groves pommel for having the two rings around the bottom as well as a black flat bottom with vents. The other pommel I now use is the Dark Shock pommel. Although the groves are larger in the shock pommel they still match the groves at the emitter and around the grip of the saber. I definitely recommend getting a vented pommel as it protects the speaker and creates a nice resonance chamber.
- What are the features?
As I said I got this saber with sound and I really like the customizability of the obsidian and the volume! With sound I ended up getting a non-illuminated AV switch. The AV switch is beautiful on the hilt and really matches the shine of the grooves. For the color I got Adegean Silver, which is by far the brightest blade you can get. I like how if you want to you can change the color of the saber with filters but this does dim the blade. Because I got sound I also got Flash on Clash (FOC) with an Arctic Blue Flash. I love FOC it makes the saber and the obsidian really stand out. Every hit it flashes and lockup mode makes it really trippy. At the time there was no Silver lit AV available and if I were to order it again with a silver blade I would definitely get the Silver lit AV. Lastly I got a covertec wheel on the back opposite the switch at the bottom of the hilt. I wanted it out of the way and in the back to keep the saber symmetrical. I really like the convenience for having it on my belt.
- How it handles both one and two handed?
The Dark Liberator is great for one handed combat because of the tapered inner section, but it is long enough for two handed as well. It is also my favourite saber for reverse grip because of the taper being in the center.
- Weight/Length in comparison to another saber
The Dark Liberator is a very light hilt relative to my others which makes it really nice for quick attacks and swings. It is a short length on its own but with a chambered pommel it gets to a nice comfortable length.
- What specific things you would change or enhance
I don’t think I would change anything about this saber. It is beautiful in its design and wield ability. Like I said before if you get sound get a chambered pommel for protection for the speaker and louder harder sound.
- Overall thoughts of the saber
Overall this is still one of my favourite saber designs. Having the vented emitter and the great contrast of light and dark makes it one of the simplest yet beautiful sabers. I am even considering getting the Nickel plated version in Violet Amethyst with no sound for all out dueling purposes.
