Hey guys im going to give a brief overview of the best colours for disc usage

i have two sets of discs, if you want to use the discs get two, none of the colours look right with one filter. i have a 36 inch ultra heavy, colours will obviously look a little brighter in a midgrade with a shorter blade as more light would come through and the light travels less making the reflection in the tip stronger as well.

true silver, standard adegan looks white pop the light blue filter in and its a silver, stands out more imo.

any combo of sun riders/artic blue. crisp bright blues are easily achievable two light blue colour discs make a damn good artic blue. one light blue and green make a sun rideresque colour.

purples are also easily achieved due to the varying shades of pink, combining these with yellows and oranges make purples in various brighter shades. the dark purples of course make a good dark purple.

pinks again easily achieved with the pik and light purples or just the dark pink (the red disc is just a dark pink.

two dark blue and two dark green make a passable Guardian blue or consular green

orange is an achievable colour but not a pyrestone colour, the ones you can make just dont look good in the saber imo

its impossible to achieve a good red with the discs, its just too dim.

lee filters. definitely superior to the discs

primary green, primary blue and yellow all produce fantastic colours, the brightest imo.

you can make a good red with the primary red filter

there are simply too many options to talk about them all but a general bit of advice for the lee filters is the darker shades are more effective normally 2 - 3 above the darkest shade otherwise you get weird shades of white mainly or pale pinks etc.

If you use lee filters, do they work well with AS with just one cut out?

depends on the colour. most do though personally i find using two is nicer you'll have to experiment to see what you like, most blue, gree yellow and pink can work with just one Smiley

Ok. I have a lee filters booklet, and when I get my silver saber, I'll cut out every single color and post pics:-)

not all colours will work anything too dark gives a disgusting washed out colout that is barely night visible anything too light has no effect (though some lightish blues make a better silver. my advice start in the middle of each spectrum for the brightest colour Smiley

Sorry if this was just asked, but in the LEE swatch book, is there enough room on each color to cut multiple "discs" out of each? and to make for example blue, would I need to put multiple blue filter cut outs to get a good hue? or will one work?

You should be able to get two disc's per sheet and there has to be overtones hundred sheets per swatch book.  For your second question, the answer is no because the more disc's you add the dimmer the color and there are so many to choose from you should be able to find the perfect hue.

I have discovered that you can get about any color except a true red.  All the colors will not be as bright as a colored LED but its still pretty good.
