Ok Jedi,
I'm a noob to saber fighting though I have some swordplay under my belt (no pun intended) but in terms of customizing your sabers my two biggest interests are wrapping the hilt in leather AND doin some engraved scrollwork (possibly inlayed). Has anyone done this, what tools work best, bits, patterns, materials? I'm looking for some guidelines to start working off of. Thanks in advance!

Its probably not really what you're looking for, (shout out to Obi-wan) but Here's my Dominix v2 wrapped with Red Leather Thread:



I didn't have any plan etc. I just wrapped it around and crossed it over, then tied it at the end. Ta-Da. Smiley

How right does the thread hold to the handle? I'm thinkin more of a flat wrap with slight overlaps and I can't think of how to secure it. Saber looks good! Reminds me of the cord wrap found on katana hilts!

I should put glue or something under it. But it doesn't hold too badly...

Maybe punch holes in the side, then tie them together around the hilt.
