I'd highly recommend the MetalCast product to anyone interested in experimenting like this on a Grab Bag; it's not as good as a true anodized metal, but it's as close as you can probably get with paint. It certainly works
much better than regular metallic paint and I'm very pleased with the result. Be patient & just do light, misty coats so it doesn't drip and you'll be fine.
Do remember - Aluminum doesn't really like to grip paint so you'll want to use a clear aluminum primer - and probably a good amount of clear enamel to seal it all in as your last step.
I'm using a clear enamel intended for Outdoor use, so it's pretty tough while still maintaining a nice glassy look that feels great in your hands as well.
