For the finishing touch on my Scorpion, I added a Focusing Crystal to the open chamber.

It's a long piece of Selenite and I think it fits rather well in the chamber!

Hard to see it in the 2nd pic due to the glare - but it looks great in person.

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that. Just kind.

How is it held in place?

It actually fits inside the bottom of the blade.  There is some light loss in the blade, but it's not too bad.

I'll probably mostly use it just for Hilt display and take it out whenever I want maximum blade brightness.

Well it looks pretty cool, been thinking of a way to show an exposed crystal in one of my sabers.

Looks awesome!, well done.

Does it affect the blade's stability in the emmitter at all? (seems like you are loosing about an inch's worth of depth in inserting the blade.

Maybe modify a blade by cutting it open on one side to accomodate the crystal while maintaining the blade's insertion depth. It would also give you the ability to create some separation between the LED and the cristal to avoid scratching the LED driver.

Thanks.  Yeah the depth hasn't really been an issue - the Scorpion has a really deep emitter area, plus it has 2 blade holder screws (which, I personally think all US models really should but that's for the Suggestions thread).

And like I said - it's more a Display thing.  I'll take it for any heavy use.

I think i as a collector would disagree on the screw thing. Having less being less intrusive to the design of the hilt. Having 2 just adds more things on the saber imo.

Well, for Display, I personally always have them facing front, so I wouldn't see them.  Wouldn't be an issue, again - to me personally.

Besides, they are so tiny anyway.  Far less intrusive then when they automatically install Covertecs on some models which I really hate since I don't do Cosplay.  Personally I think those are just ugly and intrusive.

Nice customization Lord Canterbury. Cheesy

+1

(My US are for fighting first display second.  I could've used a second retention screw many times.  Sorry Lord C for the off topic Roll Eyes)
