So, like the rest of you guys, I am super pumped for the release of the Initiate v3. The grips look fantastic, sleek, and wonderful to wield. My checking account is begging me to splurge on that wonderful blade.

Do you guys think they'll be releasing the Dominix v3 since they've released the Initiate and the Dominix together pretty closely each time they've come out with an update? I guess this is like asking when the iPhone 5 will come out.  Always fun to speculate, though. Nothing like cool new toys, yeah? Cheesy

In the event that you guys don't think that's coming, what would your recommendations be for blade size with the Initiate v3 for single, dual wielding, and staff purposes? Since I know some of you have Initiate v2's, I was curious as to your experience with the 32" and 36" blades on the shorter hilts. I'd imagine that the balance would be a little off and the grip would be a little more difficult to manage with the longer blade length (especially using the Phantom Initiate with a smaller staff grip.)

Being a future buyer of the Initiate V3, I figured I'd comment.  I can only speculate, like you, but I'd say the idea of a Dominix v3 is within reason - definitely something I'd expect in the near future.

For blade sizes, this is my point of view:  Initiate is cool for dual wielding (either with a full size saber in the main hand, or with two Initiates).  32" blade is nice for single handed wielding, and perfect for the staff.  36" is good for one or two handed wielding, it gives a good length for a "hand and a half sword" style - which is pretty much the standard way of using a saber.

Thanks, Nero! I figured that 36" would be the way to go. The fact that they offer 24" really seemed to only make sense if a kid were going to be using it or if you had some really unique two handed ninja style fighting or something. Hehe. I guess I'd either pick 32" for a slightly shorter single blade and a balanced staff or 36" for a balanced single and a huge staff. . . And all of those options sound pretty great.

If anybody else has any advice, please feel free!

. . . and I will wait patiently to see if the Dominix is close behind. Mwahaha.

The cool thing about going with a longer blade is that you can always cut it down to whatever length you want.  They're a little more expensive than the Initiate blades, but it's nice to have that option.

Glad I could help  Grin

If you're taller, at least 6ft. I would recommend the standard 32'.

I'm about 5'6, 5'7. I opted for the initiates because of my height, but mainly like you said I have a weird reverse dual grip fighting style that the shorter blades are more suited for.

But it sounds like you are going to staff it up though, so the longer blades would feel better.

And like Master Nero said, if they're too long cut them down. Grin

Ah, the ol' blade length debate.  I can say that from wielding a Dark Initiate V2 with a 32" blade it handles all right.  You might also want to factor in the grade, like mid or heavy, as the heavy is close to 2x heavier than the midgrades.

I can say that on shorter hilts the 32" looks fine.  I'm 5'4" and it works great.  The balance point on my initiate is about 1" above the emitter.  still, the light weight of the midgrade makes for some fast swings and spins.

A 36" in my opinion is for 2 handers only.  It also looks good for shelf displayed sabers.  Though there are times where i feel my 32" is a little short to feel like a real lightsaber, but these arent real per se, so for combat purposes 32" is just right.

I'm gettin a V3 in the future to wield in my main hand, because my Prophecy is a bit heavy.  I'm hoping that due to the increased size of the V3s its not gonna be too much heavier than the V2s.
