Evening!

I purchased my 11 year old son an Arbiter UltraSaber for his birthday.  It is the first lightsaber I've ever purchased that didn't come from a toy store.

Let's see if I can remember everything...Arbiter with Obsidian Lite soundboard...Fire Orange ultra-edge midgrade blade...flashes red on clash...orange illuminated A/V switch...also got a blade plug and display stand.

Let's just say that the kid is beside himself with joy.  It worked perfectly right out of the box (which we received in about 6 days after order...amazing).  The feel is unbelievable, definitely not a toy.  I would have killed for one of these things in 1983 when I was his age.  We discovered very quickly and easily how the blade attaches with an Allen wrench and how the batteries are replaced, so he's 100% responsible for the saber's upkeep.  It occupies a place of honor in his room.  He's decorated his room with stuff from video games (Destiny and Halo mostly) and this saber went right in front of poor ol' Master Chief's helmet.  High praise indeed.

Some observations so far...

-His buddy's father is a Star Wars-ophile and has maybe a dozen replica sabers from various manufacturers and retailers.  My son and his friend compared and contrasted them all the weekend we got the UltraSaber and both kids agreed that the Arbiter was not only the easiest to hold and wield, it was also the most durable.  Some of those replicas can't be handled even gently.  The UltraSaber easily stands the reckless abandon of two 11 years olds high on pizza, coke and the new Force Awakens digital download.

-The ease of ordering and obtaining this thing was great.  I was very worried after perusing other websites that I'd somehow screw this up.  UltraSaber's site is easy to navigate, the options are explained and the end product looks and works exactly as I pictured it looking and working.  Stellar job.

-As a 42 year old dude, I have to admit, I think swinging this thing around is pretty cool.  I remember being confined to leg braces as a kid in the 70's for almost a year, but when my best friend in the neighborhood saw my white plastic braces and told me I looked like a stormtrooper, everything was ok.  Star Wars was certainly a big part of my youth.  I have to admit being less than impressed at episodes 1-3, but holding a 'real' working saber really made that feeling from 1979 come rushing back.  Thanks for the nostalgia!

-Since the Arbiter was over $300, we also got an Initiate saber with a green blade..no sound of course.  My 8 year old daughter is all over it.  She has now requested a full size saber with sound for her birthday.

I'll certainly be a repeat customer as my 11 year old has decided to start saving for another saber.

Maybe I need one, too.

That's a really good review. Your son is lucky - my first saber purchase was for me. LOL

I also bought an Arbiter in Fire Orange as my first saber and was so impressed (and obsessed) with it I couldn't put it down. If you're anything like me you'll have a collection of sabers before you even realize what happened!

Lovely review!
Lightsabers are like vegetables: once the seed is in the ground, you gently water them with your desires and thoughts and then just watch how they start growing all around Smiley
(Even those on back order can still be considered as asparagus... Tongue)

Very nice review. Congratulations on your first purchase. I would like to get an Arbiter in the future, a double handed beast, isn't it a bit big for a 11 year old? I've heard it is very light weighted, so he will probably do fine with it. I would really love to see a video review of the Arbiter, as their isn't too many of them, specially of the regular silver one, so I hope you do a video and share it with us all. Have +1 point.
