Hey everyone, so if you're planning to make a Star Wars video, and don't have any blasters around to use, here's what I do. I have a ton of Nerf guns that I don't use anymore, and they have a kind of sci-fi look to them. So, just paint them! If you don't have any, you can get some good ones for about $15-$45, depending on what you want. When you paint them though, I would recommend matte colors, since gloss makes them far too shiny. Semi-gloss might work well, but I haven't really tried much yet. These are my two examples of what I've made so far

This is the pistol I have. Notice the brown grip, I was going for a wooden style look, but it's a bit too shiny for wood. And this was flat black, but it turns out more of a charcoal color, which still looks pretty nice to me. One of my friends has suggested that I highlight around it with silver or chrome to give it a more weathered look.

And this is the rifle I've done. The paint was dupli-color trim paint, and it went on pretty well. I know the Nerf logo is visible, but I imagine in video it would be far harder to see.

If you guys have anything like this, feel free to share Grin

Very nice.  We sell these guns where I work and I've often thought how very Sci-Fi they look.  They look even more so when painted.  Smiley

Right Tongue I suppose if you painted it matte white, with black trim, it could look very First Order like. I also paint airsoft guns, but those don't look very Star Wars-y. Even some of the Nerf knock off brands have some good stuff

The problem with Airsoft is that they go for that real gun look.  While the blasters in the original trilogy were made from real guns, they didn't wind up looking like said guns when modified.  So, you'd need to mod the Airsoft guns to look more Star Wars-y.

Incidentally, no need to paint a SW gun to look like a First Order stormtrooper blaster, Nerf actually makes one of those.  (I keep telling myself I'm going to pick one up someday soon)

Ya, I know they make one Tongue But I mean if you wanted something like maybe a sniper rifle for the First Order, you could get a Nerf gun with a longer barrel, and the give it a FO paint job. I think there actually is a airsoft version of the original Stormtrooper rifle, but it's pretty rare

The only thing is, the Nerf Stormtrooper blaster has orange on it, but I can live with that.  (there's paint for that Wink)  I still want one.

I did a search a while back for Airsoft SW guns and found some really cool stuff that people did customizing theirs to look like SW guns.

I'd go buy a Star Wars nerf gun if I wasn't saving up for a Sith robe. And I bet you could just make Han Solo's blaster if you got a Masuer. I think there are some spring ones that would be less than $30. Might be a fun project Tongue

This was my first ever attempt at painting a prop. Bought some nerf guns on sale and sprayed them with some plastic paint and primer.

Sorry bout the size of the pics, first time doing this from my phone.

Were you using plasti-dip? I have a few cans of it, and it find that it stays on pretty well, as long as you don't try using other paint types on it. That looks really cool though Cheesy I've been wanting to get a StrongArm or Maverick to paint. They make pretty good sidearms

I used rustoleum paint + priner. The can said it sticks well to plastic so I gave it a try. Pleased to say it worked a treat.

Think I may have started my own obsession with respraying nerf guns. I managed to pick these up for $8 bucks a piece on sale. Too good to refuse really.
