(Dark points only) Do not hesitate. Show no mercy

« on: February 08, 2019, 09:32:13 PM »

So, recently on a thread elsewhere in the movie section, a comment was made about how well Marvel plan out and execute their movies. A comment was also made about how DC should stick to their guns and not be reactionary when they make their plans.  This recent image was posted on Fandom's website showing the movies that had been announced by DC and their expected release dates. You may notice that they seem a little behind. But it also proves that DC previously were announcing movies for the sake of it, rather than having an actual direction in mind. It's a shame that many of these movies may now never go into production, due to delays and management changes at WB.

I'm waiting for Nightwing to become a reality. (I suspect I have a long wait)

I too want a Nightwing movie (Seeing as he is my favorite Batfamily character). For now I'll have to settle with Titans and Young Justice's versions of him.

I think the portrayal of Dick Grayson was my least favorite part of the handful of Titans episodes that I watched. He was too brutal and didn't have that quippy humor that Grayson is known for, even as Nightwing.

I don't want to spoil anything, but he is going through a character arc right now. And while I agree with you, once it explains why it actually makes sense. However, I do hope he gets more of his lighter, happier style back next season. I really like Thwaits in the role, he looks the part, and he's a great actor, so I'll wait and see how he does as Nightwing.

Yeah, I actually liked what I saw of the show overall, I just didn't want to continue paying for DC Universe. I'll wait to see if it comes out on disc at some point and buy it, or just pay for another month of DC Universe and binge watch the whole thing.

I hope they come out on dvd sometime (Titans and YJ). I wouldn't mind owning them for sure. Out of curiosity, did you make it to the Jason Todd episode before you ran out of free trial?

There was no free trial, I was paying for the service. No, I never made it as far as Jason.

Ahh, I thought it had a 1 month free trial. The Jason episode was one of my favorites. A very very comic accurate Jason Todd, it was really cool to see actually.

I'm not a Jason Todd fan. My two favorite Robins have been Dick Grayson and Tim Drake.

Agreed, mine as well, but seeing a super accurate Jason was really cool.

This proves what I said in the other threads, correct. DC was planning quite a bit but they have canceled a few due to the failure of the Justice League and the poor reception of it

Some of the movies have also had issues getting anything going. The Flash and Green Lantern Corps. have struggled to make it out of pre-production.

It is definitely a combination of both of these. This slate of movies was announced way back in 2014. And yet, here we are 5 years later and it looks very unlikely that many of these will see the light of day.

Not to keep harping on about it, but a lot of these movies were announced via press release statement that was emailed/faxed to news outlets. About two or three days later, Marvel did the following presentation.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2VoJuVfbjI" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2VoJuVfbjI</a>

The difference in announcing styles is clear. But away from that, you can clearly see what direction Marvel was going in. The same could not be said with DC back then (and to some extent now either).
