If you have trouble deciding as I did, then you DEFINITELY need to go for the grab bag option.

A very beautiful Archon V1 just arrived today via FedEx.  This was a Christmas present from my wife.  She ordered a grab bag, random hilt, random color, with a mid-grade blade.

The hilt measures at 10" and it is solid black.  My wife was amazed at how light the saber was.  As stated under the grab bag option, there was a little scuffing in the middle.  Nothing that cannot be touched up.  It has a guarded latching switch that is a combo of black guard and silver switch.  It came equipped with 4 AAA batteries and the blade retention screw.

The blade measures at 36" and it is much sturdier than I had imagined.  I had originally thought that my choice should have been the Heavy Grade Blade but unless I intend to use it as a baseball bat I don't think any more than a mid grade blade is needed.

The color of the LED is Guardian Blue.  In the well lit living room, it was bright.  It caught my 5 month old daughter's eye the minute I turned it on.  At this point, my wife and I decided to take it to the basement where it is cave dark.  Needless to say that my entire basement looked Blue when I turned the saber on.

I have to go to work in a few minutes for the entire weekend so it will be next week before pictures and video can be posted.  Many thanks to the Ultra Sabers crew for helping my wife to make Christmas 2011 one that I will certainly remember.

Who knows, I might even be able to get my wife into sabers.

That's an excellent saber, congrats!  My gf has an Archon V1 in VA and she loves it... and really you can't beat Guardian Blue as a color.  Bright, pure and just stunning.  Pictures would be awesome if you get a chance...

Ah nice! My first UltraSaber was the Dominix V1, and that one was pretty beastly, and is sturdy enough to go against a bokken! I've actually wanted the Archon V1, so how is it? I'm curious now.

I have yet to put it down.  My wife is worried I will lose interest in it so she is threatening to put it away until Christmas.  I secretly think she wants to spin it some more though.  I have really large hands (size 13 ring finger) and it fits me quite well.  I doubt I'll be doing anything two handed with it but it is great as a one handed saber.  The switch is well placed as I have to hold it down low.  The blade holder screw eats into my hand if I try to catch up high but I am pretty sure those with normal sized hands would have no problem with it.

It is certainly a saber of beauty.  I am wanting to do two things as a result:

1.  Save my cash and purchase the version 2 with everything I can pack into it.  If a version 3 comes later, I will certainly add it to my arsenal as well.

2.  I want to build a saber of my own.  I know that I will never be able to match the quality of Ultra and Deep but I certainly want to give a stab at it.  I am amazed at everything that goes into making these and I am sure I would appreciate the work that they do if I tried my hand at it once.

The length of the saber is perfect for my height (5'11") and I have modified one of my bo forms into a saber form.  All in all, I love the Archon.  I was curious as to the meaning of the name and I did some research.  Archon is Greek for ruler.  I believe that name fits the saber quite well.

I posted some pictures in the gallery section of it.
