I'm glad I'm not the only one that is not so keen on the recharge port. It seems convenient in theory, but it requires you to "decommission" the saber while it charges. It just seems to me like that isn't worth the extra $$$ when you could just spend about $10 for a spare set of Li-Ion 14500s to have pre-charged and swap as you need them. You still get to use the saber as the depleted set charges.

The wear-n-tear on the internals is the only reason I'd ever consider the recharge port, but so far I have yet to hear significant complaints from more experienced members/owner of US that this is ever really an issue. At least not an issue that merits the $$$ for the port ont he front end.

I only get recharge ports on my diamond sabers because they need to remain powered up while hooked up to the launcher.

I believe that is incorrect, you can still swap out the batteries if you have extras, they're not hardwired in.  The other use is for those folks who want an lit saber on display.

What I mean is that if you use a recharge port on your saber, you cannot use that saber while it's plugged into the wall. I.E. it's temporarily "decommissioned". And if I'm swapping out the batteries anyway, why did I spend so much on the port in the first place?

But you have a good point about a lit display saber. I hadn't thought of that
Still, it's a bit pricy, so I'd still pass, but I can definitely see good reasons for others to get it

The sound is pretty durable. My Zweihander (modified Flamberge) with Obsidian V3 has been one of my primary Saber Legion duelers for around 5 years and my Mantis, also with V3 has been dueled with extensively for a few year by myself and another, somewhat temporary owner.
I’ll keep that in mind. I’m not good with fixing electronics lol. It would suck if my soundboard got broken during dueling. I’ll always have that one saber with awesome sound that you never duel with. Like a car that is too beautiful to drive.

Well, I suppose that the protection of the electronics housed inside the hilt is yet another reason to work on proper defensive techniques.

DS if I've earned a point.

well, so far my Obsidian v3 has survived 5 years and counting of weekly dueling, so I'm of the opinion that the electronics hold up just fine. Of course, I have a recharge port on that saber, so that probably has something to do with it  Cool
