Hi all, looking for some advise.  I dropped an older lightsaber I got as a gift a few years ago, and now it just buzzes with a high pitched whine.  No blade light, power switch does nothing, and the buzzing does not stop until I pull out the batteries.  When I put the batteries back in, the tag sound starts to play, and then just starts buzzing again.  I am guessing I damaged the card.  I believe it is an Obsidian LITE card, based on 4xAAA alkaline battery set up and no mini-usb port.

What are my options to get it fixed?  Can I just buy a USB Obsidian V3 or V4 sound card and swap out?  Does this also drive the LED (Mine is just a single blue color)?  Is this a fairly easy process?

If you swap it out with an Obsidian V3 or V4 you'll want to upgrade the power to the 2X 14500 batteries due to Obsidian V3 and V4 running at higher power than the Lite sound board. You'll also need a stronger resistor or a buck puck to not blow your LED out with that setup. However, it's totally doable with just a little bit of electronics know how and a tad bit of work.

Your other option would be to contact customer service and see what their estimated price would be for a repair or see if they'll sell you an Obsidian Lite card. They don't sell them in the store but they may be willing to do a special order.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback!
inspect the speaker for damages.  check the wires for secure connection to the speaker.
i installed a sound card from a wal-mart laser swoard on a stunt and it works fine especially if you have momentary switch installed.  I had latching and had to swap some wiring around but simple enough.
