I've not done any real dueling so my thoughts are probably not terribly useful but I'll throw it out there anyway.

For one-handed stuff, I like my Initiate v3 with a 32" mid grade.  The balance is almost exactly at the edge of the hilt where it meets the blade, and with the Catalyst pommel it's just long enough that I can get 2 hands on it when I need to.

For 2-handed stuff, my Dominix v3 works better.  It's long enough to get a solid grip with both hands and it balances out with the heavy blade about 2 inches up from the hilt.  the mid-grade balances about half an inch down the hilt.

Very good taste, the Initiate V3 I used to have was a perfect one hander with a 32" blade.  For those of us who like lighter, quicker weapons that can be used single handed (aka fencers) it's one of the best choices.

I assume for fencing style you would need to use a midgrade blade eh?

I would recommend mid over heavy for any style. That might just be me, though.

Personal preference. I like heavy over mid any day. Less flex and more weight. Mids are too light for me.

Personal preference is a BIG thing for the blades.  Some duel harder, some softer, and some are used to heavier weapons while others (like myself) are more comfortable with a light blade.  Masters Nonymous and VorNach love their heavy grades, Master Artorius and I love my midgrades... obviously the division among the Resident Masters is more than enough proof that it's a personal thing!

But this thread is supposed to be focused on hilts... so let's get back to that!

Just because it's my main and only saber, I would use the Bellicose, but take off the covertec wheel in a serious duel.
