Has anyone found a method to protect the 4x AAA battery packs or different battery packs that fit into sabers?  I broke one in my SI last week, and my friend's just broke last night in his Dark Liberator.

I have two prophecies that (used to) have the 2 AAA battery packs with the velcro and I have dueled heavily with them, dropped them on concrete, hit floors/cielings with them - all with no consequence.  My SI and my friend's Dark Liberator, however both have the 4 AAA packs and have only been used lightly and not very much yet.

It seems like the velcro strap helps absorb the shock from drops and I've been trying to think of something to help the bigger battery packs now that my main sabers have an RGB color (and therefore the 4 AAA packs).

I'm in Ohio, so the bill to ship back to CA, get the fix (which I'm sure is cheap because US is awesome) plus the time without our sabers, is something we'd like to avoid in the future.

Right now I think I'm going to try to find a similar pack around here somewhere and install myself - I found a similar topic in another thread and Ultra laid out how to do it.  But still, you can only cut and strip those wires so many times before you don't have enough left and neither one of these sabers took that hard of a fall (mine was dropped by a friend in a wheelchair for heaven's sake).

One last note - I'm not complaining about the battery packs, they are plastic and were in a saber that got dropped on a hard floor - you can only expect so much.  I'm just looking for a way around that inherent fragility.

I would like to know this as well. I keep cracking the battery packs, and I'm not even hard on my sabers!

Wrap the pack in electrical tape, and when its time to recharge or swap batteries cut the tape and rewrap

We actually have much fewer battery holders breaking ever since we went to the 4 AAA packs, but since it is plastic, it can still break.  I've had great success by simply putting a rubber band around my batteries.  The rubber absorbs shock and keeps the batteries from popping out.

Simple battery pack replacements are always free, either within or outside the warranty period.

Would that include a battery pack/speaker combo? I'm guessing it probably doesn't. Not a big deal, just wondering.  Smiley

Ditto - and I figured as much Deep.  I really just don't want to part with my sabers for that long - I know you guys would take care of me!  Cheesy  I will definitely give the rubber bands a shot.  I actually picked some up yesterday thinking the same thing, but I'm glad to hear that they have been battle proven.

By the way guys, thanks again for the custom red-orange color.  I promise I'll get some pics and a review up soon but holy crap that is an awesome color.  I'm a fan of all things fire and that is what those blades look like now.  Straight yellow shines out the holes I drilled in the hilts and a bright orange shoots out getting slightly redder as it goes down the blade.  Definitely a unique looking color and I appreciate you guys doing custom work like that!

ps. the claws look sick now that they're on too!

How did you attach those claws I was thinking about putting one on my Prophecy too.

If you aren't going to spar, you don't really need to do anything.  Just take the top thumbscrew out, and screw the claw on with its supplied screw and if fits PERFECTLY.  The angle of the emitter just carries straight into the inside arc of the claw.  They will come loose like this sparring, which could scuff your anodizing (or plating for the CE)

To do it RIGHT, you just need to drill out two small holes for the 2 pins.  Just find the bit size from the recesses in the claw, then drive the pins into the claw and measure how far they stick out.  Then put some tape on your drill bit to know how deep to go (so you don't drill through) then push the claw/pins into the saber and put in your screw (in that same thumbscrew hole).

Oh, and the Claw's screw is a little long for the prophecy's emitter thickness - so it will stick into your blade some.  I just put the head in a vice and ground it down some so that wouldn't happen.
