So I have a brand new super soaker blaster, that I wanted to paint black with silver accents and a worn, scratched look to it. I need to know what kinda of paints and supplys people use for projects like this. It looks the blaster on the cover of republic commando: hard contact. I would post a picture but I don't know how to on my kindle fire.

I use a gloss black Rustolium enamel for a base coat, and matalic acrylic paint for detailing.

I buy gunmetal grey matalic paint and a very small brush for scratches.

Acrylic paint perhaps? For a scratched look you could just, scratch it. You know, like paint it and then drag it across the ground a bit. Real scratches that affect the look of the hilt. Just an idea though.

Nice. Something like that would make a decent Jedi blaster or Sith assassinator type weapon. I might do this sometime. =] Though every time I paint around the trigger area the trigger sticks.

Oh nice. if its just a blaster like this though then it wouldn't matter. I might get me a new Nerf gun and mod it. That one 6 revolver one, I forget the name of it but the gun looks Star Wars to me.

I'm personally not a fan of the Maverick for Star Wars. I've never seen a revolver cylinder in anything Star Warsy. Paint it bronze and it makes a wicked steampunk weapon though! (This isn't mine, I found it online - seen many like it in real life though too)

You might try getting some plastic spray paint from your local hardware store and giving it a good base coat, then get you some model paint and try a dry brushing technique. I've seen it done on other things and looks pretty good. And it doesn't break the bank either...

My suggestion. 1. First do a light sanding with sand paper to knock the shininess down. This will help the paint stick. 2. Wash the plastic dust off and let dry. 3. Spray with a black primer that is designed for plastic. 4. Paint with a metalic paint (spray is fine). 5. Coat the spots you want the metal to show through with either mustard (if a dark metalic (on light it will leave a yellow tinge)) or cheap toothpaste. 6. Let the mustard/toothpaste dry. 7. Spray with a black spray paint. 8. Let the spray paint dry. 9. Wash off the mustard/toothpaste.
