I still need a new green saber. Might try for a Consular here soon. Still been wanting that saber as well. What blade would look good on though, HG or UEHG?
HG, man, all the way. They look great in person, and I know you do more than just take pictures of it. If it was just for making videos, I'd say UEHG all the way.  |

Well, here it is! My new Phantasm v2 in CG with 32" heavies. Gotta say, it looks great. I feel they may be just a tad long, but I'm glad I didn't get the initiate blades. Thinking about cutting just a couple inches off of each. Anyone have any experience/tips with that?  |

Well, here it is! My new Phantasm v2 in CG with 32" heavies. Gotta say, it looks great. I feel they may be just a tad long, but I'm glad I didn't get the initiate blades. Thinking about cutting just a couple inches off of each. Anyone have any experience/tips with that? Sure! I have cut about 3.5" off of my regular midgrade blade, going from 36" to about 32.5" for my dark initiate LE V3. I used a mitre saw with a regular wood cutting blade. Just measure and mark how much you want off the bottom. Take a cloth/paper towel, and bunch it up into the blade just past the marked point where you will cut it. This will prevent fragments of plastic and dust from blowing into your blade while you are cutting. And trust me, stuff will, and you'll see all the fragments stuck inside your blade when you have it lit up. Brace the plastic blade against the back fence of the saw and cut slowly on the marked line. A regular mitre saw blade will easily cut through the polycarbonate plastic, and with mine it also melted the bottom of the film on the inside of the blade a little, keeping it taught inside the blade so it wouldn't unravel. That's it, sorry this was so wordy but I hope this helps |

I went with the regular HG's instead of UEHG on the staff I posted a couple posts back. Lemme just say, it's freakin' gorgeous. Prettier than my UEMG GB's, by far. Not to mention, the blues in HG look fantastic as well. Definitely go with HG. |

 One of my Aeon v2s that make up my Phantasm! Honestly, I like these Aeons more than the v3s for a staff. Having the choke points that the v3 does feels weird. These are more streamlined and feel far better, but I think the v3s would make better two-handers. But I'm a staff guy, so this thing is my baby. Really is a great hilt, and the blade is BEAUTIFUL. Super glad I went with the HG blades (non-UE). On a related note, I went outside to the field behind my dorm tonight with one of the guys I live with (who got a VA Dark Initiate v2 for xmas). We battled it out for a few rounds, despite the cold, and even had people cheering from their windows. Some guy actually took a video and put it up on facebook, and I introduced myself afterwards thanks to a mutual friend. Hopefully we can spark some more interest and get a real club together! On a related subnote, what do you guys recommend for protective handwear? I've got a couple sets of sparring gloves, which work GREAT for the first knuckle or so, but thumbs are getting smashed up pretty bad. He had a nail break pretty bad, but no major damage. Not to mention an eye-poke, lol. |
