Now I just need to find someone to take my designs of a sith mask and sculpt it, make a positive so I can vacume press some mask. I'm building a full character up. Check out the Rebel Legion or the 501st. These are two of the leading places to go for all things costuming. One for the rebel side and one for the Imperial side. I'm on the Rebel Legion boards and there are ALL kinds of help there. I have seen people on their who either tutorial mask making and even those that sell custom masks. I'm not on the 501st but I have heard that their community is just as good. After getting into reading through RL, I found the vendor I want to make my outfit as well as so much other help on costuming. Definitely worth the trip over their.

I think its better to do your own costume. Mask and everything. Someone on the Facebook page did a complete mask and turned out awesome.

The curved section is way off --- it's too centered; but then again, it is a prototype. It should be closer to the pommel.

I very much disagree. I wish I could let you use it so you could feel how it handles the way it is.

Ergonomically speaking, I guess you are in the best position to say how it handles. But design-wise, I think it still needs to be refined such as where the curve is to be situated. IMHO, the curve is too abrupt.

I kind of agree with this. It's not really curved. More so, it looks like a bent saber to me. However, it is a prototype it seems, so I give them props to attempting. Process is progress.

As I understand it, even the original Dooku curved hilt is really just a couple of angles that give the impression of a curve. Much like this. I for one... would like to get one. Reaper... cool but not my favorite, but if it's the only way to get a curved saber, I'll more than likely buy one! It's just too cool to know US is actually making this. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first of it's kind? Has there ever been a non MR or Hasbarf curved saber that was mass produced? I don't believe so, or the demand for one wouldn't be anywhere near as vocal as it's been for so long. lol

Wow!
Finally!
A prototype curved hilt! Everything we said, wrote, asked, demanded about curved hilts was not in vain. This is a definite sign of the new, v3 Dark Apprentice coming soon!

Well for anyone that actually wants to get your hands on it and see how it feels, I will have it at GenCon Indy, and most likely at ComiCon Indy. Im taking a dermal to it to smooth out the curved part that is unfinished then I will polish it. I don't have the chems and equipment to anodize it which is why Im working on finding a leather wrap technique that I like.

There was a tutorial around here someplace to use beeswax and leather to get a nice tight heat shrunk leather grip. You might see if you can scrounge that technique up someplace. And thanks Zren, I'm rather fond of that joke.

I hope they'll try this process on other sabers. Curved Dominix = a pretty good approximation of Ventress' sabers. Curved something with a Scorpion emitter/claw = Dooku.

I'd like to see it without the AV switch on the curved part. Having it there just makes it so you cant put that part on a different saber.

Not entirely true. You can locate your switch anywhere you want but you will have to cover the hole somehow. Depending on how creative you are it could take away from the appearance this is true.

Yea I was very happy to get it. I'm also happy to be able to share it with you all. As far as pics with the claws, I may wait to see if I can get my mod to the claws done first. I want to grind them down into blades instead of jus claws. Finding time is rough because I'm working a lot to have extra money at GenCon in 3 weeks so time is short. If you have never used a curved saber before, let me tell you it's amazing. Unlike a normal blade it feels more like an extension to your arm. There are certain moves you can't do, but there are others you get more speed and power from. The other advantage is that with the location of the Obsidina board, it's motion is slightly exaggerated so you can fine tune it a lot. Hopefully I get some time this weekend to work on my turks head knot to see how that looks on the handle. Now I just need to find someone to take my designs of a sith mask and sculpt it, make a positive so I can vacume press some mask. I'm building a full character up. I have worked GENCON many times...back when it was still the mighty giant in Milwaukee! I could sculpt the mask for you. Let me see the design you had in mind. Did you need someone to also vacuum form the mask or just make the positive mold?
