Device was not found error please help

Ok, I've had this problem since I first tried to use the launcher. I'm using the newest version. I connect the cable to my computer, power on my saber, connect the cable to the saber, and start the launcher. When I try to connect via the launcher it says "Device was not found". I'm getting very frustrated with this and I haven't been able to find a topic that explains what to do.  I'm running win 8. Help me US forums, you're my only hope. :p

Are you running it as an Administrator?

sure am. I set it up to always run that way and I still get the same error.

I'm getting this same issue at the moment.

Regardless of whether I run Obsidian in administrator mode or not, it's not detecting my lightsaber and when I try the connect button it says "Device was not found".

It's happening when I connect the sound board AND when I connect the LED board.

Edit: Tried a different cable, can get the LED board to work now but not the sound board.

You have to turn the saber on before plugging it in to the pc.

Then run the launcher software after the device is recognised (first time only).

I have been: saber on, plug in saber, launch Obsidian.

And my PC recognises when it is connected to my saber (it gives me the usb device connected sound).  However the Obsidian launcher won't detect my soundboard on either of my lightsabers (just tested my older one, no luck there either).

Hmm, and the usb cable you are using? is it one for a hard drive or similar?

I had some of the same type of cables hanging around that were just for charging 3d glasses, and they weren't fully wired up for all of the data channels.

I could configure the LED driver board using it, so yes.

I am having a similar issue and have been posting in a few threads trying to get some help. I have tried all of the steps listed but the launcher still tells me that the connection to the device has been lost whenever I start it. The common denominator I have been seeing in these posts looks like Windows 8. I plugged mine into a Windows 7 computer and it worked just fine. Windows 8 and launcher does not connect. The version 2.22 launcher worked fine on Windows 8 but I can't adjust the emerald settings in that launcher. Anyone have a work around?

Do you use the V2.2.2 with the new soundboards (the ones with a Serial No. 121xxxxx or higher)? If yes, NEVER do that - you risk damaging the board! Use the newest V3.1.4.launcher. Furthermore, only this version (and all following) allows to change the Emerald driver settings.

No. I used the old launcher with a version 1 soundboard. It does not prove much except that the USB cable and port sould be able to make the connection and that windows 8 seems to have been cooperating with the old version of the launcher.

Okay, didn't want to sound rude or something As for the launcher, many seem to have probs on Win8/8.1 with the new version. Maybe there's some general incompatibility between Win8/launcher/saber combinations...can't think of another reason so far.

Nope, only been using v3.1.4.

But I'm on Windows 8, so it sounds like that is the common denominator.

I would think so, too. Win8 is relatively new, so it has definitely some "problems", like all new systems. Stick to the automatic Windows updates, they can fix quite a lot But it's a good idea to try different USB cables, too.

Windows 8 issue here too. Just wanted to say I feel your pain guys, same issues. Tried same things. Somehow it worked once and I'm now, VERY SLOWLY, downloading a font... Been an hour and a half and I'm finally at 16.8%
