I have seen it posted long, long ago but I could not find it via search function to my satisfaction. I have heard of people using sand paper to convert clear polycarbonate to something similar to an ultraedge effect. If you have done this or know someone that has, please let me know how to do this.

Basically you just sand it lightly with a fine-grain sandpaper to give it a textured surface. I believe you're supposed to do it in one direction.

i use 320grit and 600grit to finish it. I just adds more diffusion, so will help the blade light evenly. I do this to all my blades when they get to scuffed up.
I have also done it with blade tips

Nevermind, it won't let me.
Okay so from what I'm reading,
"I use 400 grit sandpaper going from top to bottom. I takes maybe 10 minutes but the results are awesome! "
Basically what Ninja said.
And it seems the best results are from the top to the bottom (longitude).

Ninja, have you tried this with LED's in Yellows, and Oranges and Reds? I don't like the way they look in UE, and Im hoping this looks better than the UE. |

I have with red and amber. I personally like red with UE but I know what u are saying.
Orange comes out like a pastel amber and not very vibrant. I personally prefer regular mid or heavy grade for orange. Keep in mind when u sand the blade it gives it a sort of frosted look which is why it provides more light diffusion. Anyways try it with a blade or some blade stock poly carb and see if it is for you

I was just told to start with 240 and work up to 700 wet-sand to achieve a gloss like finish. I would imagine if you did a 700 dry sand it would leave a slight haze. Thats my 2 cents.
Edit: This is for acrylic… I think it's the same though.

I just did this using 400 grit on an Ultraedge heavy that was missing the film to boost diffusion. The extra sanding made BR look fantastic, CG look OK, and GB look wanting. The effect on the red blade was amazing though, and it's not bad at all considering there's no film.
