Dark Side points if you please

For my third costume, I either wanted to put together a Mandalorian or a Bounty Hunter costume, mainly because of my addiction to the Movie Battles 2 mod for Jedi Academy. Seeing as how Mandalorian costumes can be quite expensive to do, I figured I'd put together a custom Bounty Hunter costume that utilizes some of the costume pieces I already own, with some additional new ones. Here are a few pics of the weapons this character will have. All have been painted black to give them more of a Star Wars look.

Character's main sniping weapon:

Belt weapon:

Twin pistols for leg holsters:

I'm still waiting for three more accessories to arrive in the mail, after which the costume will be finished and I'll have pics of it posted here.

What did you use for the blasters?? The top one looks like a Nerf Longshot which I have and have been thinking of modding the blaster myself.

You're not the first person to think it's a Nerf Longshot, which it isn't. It's actually a Huntsman 50 dart gun that I bought at Kmart, but it's easy to find on Google images. The small one in the middle is a $1 dart gun from Kmart as well, and the twin pistols are actually water guns from Walmart. All of them together were about $32. The best part about the rifle is that it includes three different parts, meaning it can actually be turned into four different guns (a pistol, a pistol with a shoulder butt, a rifle without the butt, and the full rifle as seen above).

Sweet!  I love the idea of a Bounty Hunter costume too.

I would add some color to the guns though.  Maybe just a little gold/silver/red to add a little pizzazz.

Looks good so far.  Me? I would hit all the high points with white, stark gloss white.  Once dry, then a brown ink wash, wipe off the excess.

It would give it contrast and depth as well as a touch of use/age.

These are Fracking sick! I've been scouting around looking for some good blasters. I'll have to find that rifle. I would definitely try to dry brush some weathering, and maybe do some wrapping too. Great finds. Points.

You should totally give them a paint job. A good color scheme.

Here's some inspiration!

I'm in the process of painting a fourth gun for this costume, which will have weathering on it. I'll probably go back and add some weathering to the rifle as well.

While I love the guns you've made and have no doubt another one will look great, can I suggest maybe not having so many guns, and adding more gadgets?  Flamethrowers, smart-cord, jetpack, wrist-mounted dart guns, and that sort of thing.

And I nearly gave myself a heart attack by suggesting fewer guns.  I think I might be sick or something.....

The gadgets will be for my future Mandalorian costume, whenever I get around to making that. As a Bounty Hunter, I want him to be kind of a weapons expert and be able to take targets down at any range with a variety of guns. I might include some poison darts or something like that in the tactical belt, or maybe even a few grenades, but for the most part I want this character to be mainly a firearm specialist. Whenever I can afford to make my Mandalorian costume, then I will be much more gadget oriented. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Awesome, thanks! What kind of paint did you use? Is it pretty durable? The paint job you did looks really good.

The paint I used was Rost-Oleum Flat Black 2x coverage spray paint for plastic surfaces as the base layer. Then I used metallic Rub & Buff to do some weathering with, after which I put a couple coats of Krylon Fusion Clear spray paint for plastic surfaces on to give it some protection. I'm currently working on my fourth gun for this costume, which is another rifle, and for that I'm using Krylon Fusion Satin Black for plastics, which I HATE. It sprays in such thin layers that I had to use almost a full can for just one side of the rifle. For all future projects, I will be sticking with Rust-Oleum brand, as it goes on much better and more consistently.

As for the paint itself, it is holding pretty well so far, considering I didn't sand the rifle to begin with (didn't know you had to for it to adhere better). If you're going to do any kind of painting projects like this, I'd recommend taking the gun apart first, sanding the parts that will be visible with rough sandpaper first, then again with fine sandpaper to even it out. After that, put a basic coat of spray paint on (black works well) and let it dry completely before doing any detail work. Once you're done with the paint job, spray a clear sealing coat on and let that dry before reassembling the gun. That should give you the best results.

Here is the rifle after adding some basic weathering to it.

I think I went a bit overboard with the metallic paint, but I'm happy with it just the same. This will be the paint job style used for all blasters for this costume.
