not sure if this the place for this, if not mods please move. has anyone used a gun blueing kit or paste on their hilt , if so how did it come out and were you pleased? i saw this on another forum but they didnt go into any detail on how it was done. the pics looked really good and i would like to try this on my prophecy.

How well it works all depends on which chemical / kit you use, and what your hilt is made of. They make several formulations, all of them perform better on "raw" metal than on something that's highly polished or sealed in any way. Bluing, especially if you aren't trying for a uniform color, is an inexact art and takes a bit of playing around with to get really great results.

gun blue works great, my brother collects world war one and two bayonets and he uses gun blue on them, makes them look old yet in good condition, if it helps I will get some photos of some of his bitss n bobs and post them. Kalibos

i beleive gun blueing is for steel , atleast thats what i understand from what i read in different forums. i think i will try the birchwood casey aluminum black this weekend. the only thing i am worried about this process is that they say you are to rinse the aluminum with cold water after the aluminum black has been applied. is it possible to do this on the hilt without the water getting into it and damaging the electronics inside? if i plug the emiter will that be enough or can the water get into the button as well?

Well since US stunt sabers are water proof, if you leave the blade in you should be fine. It should work on an Obsidian sound hilt as well, but if it has an MR/Hasbro board in it, then not a good idea.
