Lightside Points Please!

« on: November 27, 2014, 06:09:51 AM »

I'm looking to buy my first saber this weekend!  It's certainly been a long time coming.  However, based on the current deals of the day I'm stuck on making the decision.

My initial choice was the Bellicose.  I've heard amazing things about it, obviously.  However, the Dark Liberator is a deal of the day and it's one I've had my eye on as well.  After putting everything I want on them, the difference in price is the Bellicose being 15 bucks more expensive.

Which one would you guys recommend as my first saber?

I don't know what your budget is like, but on such a large purchase, a fifteen dollar difference is not too huge generally speaking, so from that stand point I'd ask do you want a more basic utilitarian saber that is still a great piece of craftsmanship as your first saber or do you want something a little more flashy with a few more of the bells and whistles? If you want the more utilitarian design, save a few bucks and get the Liby. Its not a saber I personally own or have ever had on my wish list, but I do note its impressive no nonsense design with the added windows to give it a little something extra. But if you want the more eye catching Bellicose that is still a rugged design, then take the plunge I say. And if you just can't decide, flip a coin haha. That's what I do sometimes and it sounds like you'd be pleased either way.

I'd second that. Though I may not have handled a belicose myself to give you a straight comparrison

I am however a very happy liberator customer though it's more basic in design then the belicose it's got a nice natural choke point to comfortably grip and is the lightest in weight of the 3 ultrasabers I own

I would say to go with the one you think is gonna be more for you

Speaking as someone who owns both, Bellicose every time. It was my second 'sabre and having owned something close to two dozen, it's still probably my favourite.

One more question!  If I don't get the Illuminated activation switch then does the switch come as it looks in the pictures?  Like, black with a silver center?

If you make NO selection on switch type then by default it'll be the basic black guarded switch. You can choose an AV switch(fancier) with or without light.  It's in the OBSIDIAN SOUNDBOARD drop down when picking options for your hilt.
