Suggestion Box/Wishlist: what do we want from Ultrasabers? Rebooted

I think an expanded line of MHS compatible parts (pommel, emitter, body, etc) would be nice.  It definitely return dollars back to Ultrasabers' pockets from some of their competitors (most of you know who they are).  I'd feel funny modifying an hilt from US with parts from one of those competitors.

Apparently US is on pretty friendly terms with The Custom Saber Shop. I always used to wonder what they meant in descriptions where they said "compatible with TCSS parts." Then I discovered tcss.com. They have some pretty sweet looking parts, but with some drawbacks.

1) They only sell parts, not completed sabers.
2) They powder-coat instead of anodize. It offers more colors, but I prefer the look of anodizing.

I asked Emory if I sent in TCSS parts, if US could stuff it with electronics. He said 'no dice'.

I think from a technical stand point the single greatest advancement in saber tech would be a microprocessor. Instead of running a sound board and led driver, both of which have limited expansion abilities, use a $35 thumbstick sized micro pc with a dedicated saber application. I'm no expert but from my music background it would be like the equivalent of using a digital effects pedal vs a analog effect on a guitar. The digital has its drawbacks, but often one digital effects box can be made to emulate a vast array of traditional effects boxes.

You could have total versatility. able to program LEDs much more carefully than the options given in obsidian, say "flash on activation" or the ability to change the flash speeds, even have them shift while active. Imagine flash on clash, but the flash speeding up and slowing down with the pace of the sound effect.

You could even program a demo mode loop for display. Have the saber on the wall, and just humming while at a steady pulse, and at a set interval flash and play impact noises, or just play the swinging effect. Or turn off the sound and only have the LED effects. 

Obviously processing speed might become an issue, and somehow writing the programming, and getting a motion detection system working too... But imagine if the motion could be programmed to the force of a swing?

I'd love to see Nickel Plated pommels and Emitters offered in the Build Your Own section.  Not having them is kind of limiting for anyone who wants a CE version saber but wants to customize the MHS parts.

That's why one of the secondary initiatives of Operation: Rainbow Arsenal is to acquire a $#!% ton of sabers with varying MHS parts. Then I can just switch up bodies, pommels, emitters, colors. It'll be sick when it's done.

I would LOVE to see a Kanan Jarrus saber released! Full MHS compatibility and all that jazz. Maybe call it "Rogue" or  or something to that effect.

In terms of the Build Your Own section I'd like to see more options there in general.  Two hilt purchase options so you can make a staff, more hilt options, possibly even ones like the Mantis build, etc.

I'd love to see a replica of Luke skywalker's light saber from return of the Jedi as well as palpatine's saber from revenge of the sith. This are two sabers from the movies that as far as I know ultrasabers doesn't have and I think they would be pretty awesome!

The Archon is based on Luke's RotJ saber. It just doesn't have the activation box near the bottom like the movie version has.

Count Dooku's hilt. No offense to the Mantis and those who like it, but we need a proper curved hilt. To me, the Mantis is a "bent" hilt.

^^^Agreed with that. Also how about a more simpler curved hilt like a curved Apprentice re-issue or something since we have the new Apprentice sabers now? I can see that happening actually

I am also digging the previous suggestions about financing and subscription programs! There are quite a few of us that have an extremely hard time paying for awesome sabers all up front (especially us college students  ).

I think financing and/ or subscription payments are a definite must. I personally think that this would make make the US fanbase EXPLODE!! Everyone wins.

In actual fact, the Mantis is a perfect example of the curved saber.  The principle of most curved sabers is that they were "standard hilts with a slight bend rarely exceeding 45 degrees in length".  Everybody makes theirs different though so some were more radical or exaggeratedly curved, like Dooku's.  I can't imagine US will only ever produce one curved hilt saber though so we'll get another one some time.

I don't plan on buying one any time soon. But how come the new Menace is not offered in the Double Blade sabers section as well? Considering that it IS Maul's saber which is originally a staff. Not a big deal, but it appears that buying the double bladed gets you a small discount.

Both good points. But there are severe limitations to what US can acheive manufacturing readily assmble-able parts. Batteries, boards, switches, and LEDs all have only so many places that they can go. If you had an identical Dooku, (and I so want one), you'd be hard pressed to get the batts in due to the fact that the curve of the hilt starts right after the pommel. And the incredibly skinny neck on Luke's? How the emitter never came off that thing I can only chock up to sci-fi metallergy. Also, large radii bends (circa Ventress' sabers) would have to be done after anodize, and for LEs after the second machining, otherwise you couldn't turn them properly. They'd be awesome, and expect them to have an "awesome" (by which I mean very high) price tag.

In other suggestive news, I recently received a Dark Prophecy, and whilst looking at it, had the great idea to make LE's. Think about it...Dark Prophecy LE. The smaller ODs are cut back to expose the silver, as well as down in the grooves. This could also work with the gold for a "light" Prophecy LE. Y'all can't tell me that wouldn't look dead sexy.
