Boys, please.  Don't embarrass yourselves.  Wink

Here's the "Stairway" tribute, btw:

Point for that.  Eight minutes very well spent.  In her sixties and still belting it out.

That's funny, I didn't think you'd be familiar with Fun., Dead Confederate, or Young Guns(they're a bit more obscure in the Hard Rock community). That Beck song is a bit obi forgot to list is obscure as well, it's actually his new single, but I'm in love with it. I'm pretty sure you looked those up, but maybe not. lol

One song I forgot to list is Shut Up and Dance-Walk The Moon. Absolutely love that song.

And Molina, you forgot Wanted Dead or Alive....

I like a LOT of obscure music.  Also, most of my friends are musicians, so they give me some of the lesser known stuff all the time.  I REALLY dig Dead Confederate.

And since we're doing the sampler thing, I'll give you a sample of the crap from my MP3 player in no particular order.  Some of it may surprise you:

Judith -  A Perfect Circle (Danny Lohner remix)
Seven Days -  Sting
Across the Universe - The Beatles
Love Me Dead - Ludo
Champagne - 311
Heal in Time - Dark New Day
One - Metallica
Symphony of Destruction - Megadeth
Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard
Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) - Lady Gaga
Imperial March (LOL)  -  John Williams
The Best Day of My Life - American Authors
Orgy Theme - Eyes Wide Shut Soundtrack
Make Me Bad - Korn
Get Your Gunn - Marilyn Manson
Lollipop - Lil' Wayne (that's right. You wanna fight about it?)
Steam - Peter Gabriel
Wreath of Barbs - Wumpscut
Panama - Van Halen
Uber Alles - Hanzel und Gretyl
Wheel in the Sky - Journey
Get Over - Marvelous 3
All Time Low - NIN
Head Over Heels - Tears for Fears
Erfquake - Family Force 5
Requiem -  Gabriel Faure
Madness-  Muse
B Minor Mass - Bach
Shut Up and Dance - Walk the Moon
Take it Back - Pink Floyd
Paper Planes - M.I.A.
Adrenalize - In This Moment

Right.  So.   Cheesy

The Fight-True Becoming
S&M-Rihana(don't judge, or at least do so silently)

We are talking about the band that does "We Are Young" and "Carry On," right?  Because "Carry On" is one of my freakin' favorite songs.

No worries, I can appreciate that problem. That list was pretty hard, and honestly changes every few months anyway. Don't know why I bother with it myself.

I did manage to come up with some though.

So Cold - Breaking Benjamin
Tourniquet - Evanescence
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
From Afar - Van Halen
Act Naturally - Beatles
Shape of my Heart - Sting
Ohne Dich - Rammstein

I also approve of all of Logos' songs.  It pleases me to be around people who have such good taste in music.   Cheesy

Speaking of that!  If you are SUPER music nerdy (like I am), this will amuse you.  Gustav Holst has a very well known collection of pieces known as "The Planets."  My favorite one is "Mars: The Bringer of War."  Well, I took a look at the score today and noticed there are some shocking similarities between that and the Star Wars theme.  Not necessarily in the beginning (although it IS still there), but towards the middle where the melodic structure changes?  Holy crap.  The middle of the Star Wars theme is VERY similar to the ending of "Mars."  This pleases me.

If you're curious, this is the Holst piece.  It's a DAMN good listen, if you like angry, minor key symphonic music.  Makes my hair stand up every time:

Another piece of trivia: The reason why there are so many similarities between The Imperial March and Mars: The Bringer of War (and indeed between many pieces of music from both) is simple.

The Planets served as a temp score for the movie before John Williams wrote the score.

On another note: Being in 5/4 time and at a fast tempo, Mars is quite difficult to march to.

I've heard the bit about the "Imperial March," yes!  But I noticed it in the main theme, too.  I actually didn't think about that, but now that you bring it up, that would absolutely make a lot of sense.

Fun fact:  We once did a marching band half-time show to "Mars" and it was both horrifying and hilarious.  I know this "omfg, what is this METER!??!" feeling all too well.  We did "The Firebird Suite" by Stravinsky as well and that was just LMFAO.  Our director was a sadist.  7/8 can also get out.  Just sayin'.

We did a halftime show to The Planets my junior year of high school. It was an absolute blast, despite the insanity of Mars and Mercury (oh, Mercury was my bane...).

The one that was a real shot in the ass was sophomore year when we marched Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, Rimsky-Korsakov's Dance of the Tumblers, and Reed's Russian Christmas Music. It was phenomenal, but you don't know difficulty until you march Dance of the Tumblers at full tempo.

Right, Jev.  So were y'all sprinting to get to your line or what?   Wink  That's how it was for the Stravinsky.  I remember the horror quite keenly and man, anyone who says marching bands isn't a form of violent, physical torture has never marched to crap like what you and I have just mentioned!

We also used to play the "Imperial March" when the opposing team ran onto the field.  I always thought we should play it for OUR team because isn't it our job to destroy the other guys??

Let's just say that I was glad that I am six feet tall and have a naturally long stride...

We used to get crap from the varsity football players about it because four years of marching band took care of the two years of PE credits needed for graduation. In response, we gave brought some of them out  to the practice field, gave them a two-hour crash course in marching, then had them march with us during out three hour Tuesday night practice. We took it easy on them, giving them trumpets, alto saxophones, and clarinets, but at the end of it all, they were miserable and never gave us any grief about it again, especially after I let one of them try marching with my bari sax and someone else gave them a bass drum. They were even more surprised and impressed when one of us came out in full uniform (which was all polyester and wool and weighed about fifteen pounds).

Well, in your eyes, you were the good guys, and they were the enemy. Of course they get the bad guy music...
